His entire career has been devoted to bridging communications, servicing different social groups. Marcos considers himself gifted with the opportunity to have lived in 4 different countries and the ability to speak 4 languages, which granted him a broader exposure to cultures and diversity, setting his path to act as cultural liaison, in the roles of simultaneous interpreter and Spanish-English translator.

Sonoma Community Resilience Training
Applications for the Train-the-Trainer program are now open .  Click here to access a full description of the program and application:  Applications for Train-the-Trainer program.  The deadline for applications is September 7, 2018!
This training will bring valuable tools to our staff, clients, and community members as we continue to build our resilience and create a healing community for all people.
The dates for the two training sessions are:
  • Wednesday, October 31 to Saturday, November 3 (Initial Training)
  • Wednesday, January 9 to Saturday, January 12 (Advanced Training)
The training is free of cost. Participants commit to attend two four-day training sessions (Initial and Advanced) and to deliver a minimum of one mind-body workshop and one mind-body skills group in our community. Spanish translation will also be available.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS –
Exciting opportunity to help assess community needs and gain public health experience conducting a survey!
Who: Volunteers available 9/12, 9/13, AND 9/14 from 10 AM – 7 PM. Access to a vehicle and bilingual individuals are a plus.
What: Conduct an in-person 20 minute household survey.
Where: Meet at  490 Mendocino Ave , Manzanita Room - Suite 204, Santa Rosa, CA 95401. Household surveys will be conducted across Sonoma County.
Why: Assess post-fire community needs and gain public health experience by volunteering for Sonoma County Department of Health Services (DHS).
Volunteers who are available all three days are highly preferred. Teams of two will be deployed in their own vehicles. If volunteers are not available all three days, then they must be available from 8 am – 12 pm on 9/12 for training. This is a great opportunity to gain experience participating in a community-wide health needs assessment in a public heath setting.

The Integrated Wellness Center, located at 2232 Lomitas Avenue, is now open to provide free counseling, basic nursing services, and tutoring and academic support for families affected by the wildfires. Whether you have lost a home or not, your family might be feeling ​effects of the fires.  Our staff is here to help! The Center is available for any students and families in the area, not just in the Santa Rosa City Schools district. All we need to know is the name of your school; no personal information required.

Title of Announcement: Staff Attorney- VIDAS
Salary: $58,000 to $66,000 for 100% time
Position Summary: VIDAS seeks one Staff Attorney to work with its Senior Attorney in Sonoma County (primarily Santa Rosa) to represent immigrants in removal proceedings in the San Francisco Immigration Court. The Staff Attorney will have office hours in Santa Rosa and will appear in court in San Francisco one to two days per week, generally, representing both detained and non-detained clients in their removal proceedings. VIDAS will consider applicants who are available for four (4) or five (5) days per week for this position.  The Staff Attorney will report to the Legal Director (Senior Attorney) and will have a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on immigration issues, including participating in immigration clinics and assisting with emergency cases;
  • Provide direct representation to detained and non-detained immigrants in bond, master and individual hearings in San Francisco and, possibly, by telephonic appearance in other venues;
  • Prepare motions, applications, briefs and exhibits of evidence for advocacy before the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Field Office, and U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services;
  • Develop and present training/guidance materials on immigration law issues affecting Sonoma County immigrants and their families for Know Your Rights and other community education fora;
  • Provide hands-on mentorship to VIDAS paralegal staff, equipping them to work effectively in preparing applications, declarations and other documents needed for representation;
  • Assist in oversight of progress on objectives and deliverables for grant reporting, process mapping, and tracking data and outcomes;
  • Facilitate cross-referrals with social services, mental health and medical providers;
  • Support Legal Director and Executive Director with project management tasks, including reporting, and funder and media relations.

Position Summary: Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNorCal) is seeking Program Instructors for our after school-based STEM programs (for girls grades K-8), and prevention/intervention programs (for girls grades 6-8). We are looking for thriving youth development practitioners who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of girls!
Positions will be serving sites located in Sonoma County and requires 5-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, mostly between the hours of 2:30pm – 6:30pm. If hired, we will do our best to work with you to determine work hours that best fits with your school schedule. Position Summary: County of Sonoma Senior Account Clerks are responsible for maintaining and reviewing financial and statistical records. They are subject matter experts who use independent judgment and discretion when conferring with staff, management, and other County departments and agencies. Position Summary: .Reporting directly to the CDC's Assistant Executive Director, this critical position will manage the administration of CDBG-DR funds, and coordinate timely delivery of the County's Action Plan and Citizen Participation Plan. In conjunction with the County of Sonoma's Office of Recovery and Resiliency, the County Administrator Office's Community and Government Affairs Team, and the CDC's executive management team, the CDBG-DR Administrator will work to ensure that the County's recovery efforts are compliant with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Disaster Recovery requirements. This position will facilitate stronger accountability between County agencies/departments, HUD, and the Sonoma County community.

Position Summary: The Database Administrator position is responsible for data management and reporting functions as it relates to program outcomes. This includes training users on processes and procedures. In coordination with the Director of Programs, assists with various technology needs of the agency, performs database administration, and advises and supports Management with information analysis related to grant and fund development.

Position Summary: The Encore Program Advocate provides advocacy and support services for residents as they transition out of the Safe House or other YWCA housing program and move into the community. Follow along services, as part of the YWCA Sonoma County’s Encore program, are time limited and assist individuals in planning and addressing needs post our residential program. The Encore Advocate works in collaboration with the resident to meet intermediate and long-term goals to include financial stability, stable housing, job/career development, the pursuit of education and other goals as defined by the individual. This position combines follow along support, case management, community outreach and administrative duties. The Encore Advocate may also be requested to fill advocate and crisis line duties at the Safe House as needed. The Encore Advocate must be available to be on a rotating on-call schedule, and be responsive to phone calls and to immediate law enforcement advocate requests. This position requires reliable transportation.
Title of Announcement: Program Director, Mental Health Services
Position Summary: The Program Director, Mental Health Services, Sonoma Napa provides program leadership and is responsible for the quality and integrity of service delivery and client outcomes, financial accountability for program budget, hiring and supervision of program staff, contract oversight, and compliance with external and internal policies, practices and procedures.  The programs under the responsibility of this position include ReFocus (formerly ACT and PRIDE programs), TBS services in Sonoma, Marin and Napa Counties, FASST, and Pathways.

Position Summary: The Bilingual Resource Connector position helps register and screen incoming clients with 1-2 in-person or phone contacts screening need and eligibility to access resources from both programs across the agency and application support to external agencies.
