Tune in to 1620 AM.
Highway Advisory Radio 1620 AM communicates real time traffic information directly to Lake County motorists. Broadcast information includes location of delays due to crashes, construction and extreme traffic congestion to help motorists in planning their commute.

Rules of the Road Review Class March 1 from 10 am til noon

There are still spots available for this review course.
The Rules of the Road Review Course is designed to give drivers – especially senior citizens and persons with disabilities – the knowledge and confidence needed to renew or obtain a driver’s license.
The review course combines an explanation of the driving exam with a practice written exam. Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. It is free. The class will be in our lower level of our Administrative Building on March 1 from 10 am til noon

Financial scams targeting seniors have become so prevalent that they’re now considered “the crime of the 21st century.” Why? Because seniors are thought to have a significant amount of money sitting in their accounts.
Financial scams also often go unreported or can be difficult to prosecute, so they’re considered a “low-risk” crime. However, they’re devastating to many older adults and can leave them in a very vulnerable position with little time to recoup their losses.
There is another phone scam in our area involving callers claiming to be from Apple (caller ID often shows “Apple”) who tell our residents that their iCloud accounts have been compromised. Residents are then asked to purchase expensive gift cards at local retailers in order to solve the issue. Please be alert to these calls – the caller is not from Apple; this is a scam and is not a valid claim. If you receive such a call, please IGNORE THE CALL and do not fall victim to this scam by sending money or purchasing a gift card.

Snowmobiling In The Forest Preserve
|
|
When conditions allow, snowmobile trails are open 6:30 am–11 pm, Sunday–Thursday, and 6:30 am–midnight, on Fridays and Saturdays. The following snowmobile trailer parking lots are open extended hours for snowmobilers. All other lots close at dusk.
- Van Patten Woods Canoe Launch on Russell Road east of Route 41, for northern Des Plaines River Trail access.
- Sedge Meadow main entrance on Wadsworth Road east of Route 41, for northern Des Plaines River Trail access.
- Lakewood Forest Preserve Horse Trailer lot, located on the west end of Ivanhoe Road/Brown Road near Route 12.

Workers are needed to process voters in your neighborhood Election Day voting site during the April 2nd election. Your pay is based on successfully completing a 3 hour in-person training class and your Election Day assignment.
Classes begin on January 22.

Seniors 75 and over must go to the DMV because they need a road test
For your convenience, Fremont Township is hosting a Mobile Drivers License Renewal on April 5 with Secretary of State Jesse White's office. In order to renew your license or State ID at this event, your license or ID must be expiring within one year of April 5, 2018.
(April 4, 2019 expiration date is the latest they will take.
Seniors over 65 can get a free lifetime State ID.
If you have moved and your address has changed you can get that changed here. You will need proof of your address.
Drivers who will be 75 years of age or older when their current drivers license expires are required to pass a road test to renew their license. That is not offered at this event. Anyone 75 or over must go to the DMV.
You will be issued a temporary license and the permanent will be mailed to you.
You may also renew your license plates at this event. Cash, Check and Charge are all accepted, but there is a fee for using a credit card.

Free AARP Tax Preparation at the Fremont Library
|
|
Volunteer tax preparers from AARP will be available by appointment at Fremont Library to assist community members with their tax return. This service is free and available to anyone, and is specifically designed for people over 50. AARP will prepare and file the return with the IRS and the State of Illinois.
Appointments required; book in person at the Reference or Readers Services desk or over the phone by calling 847-918-3206 beginning January 7, 2019.

50 and Older Looking For Things To Do?

Mundelein Park & Recreation District offers a variety of programs exclusively for ages 50 and over. Programs are held at our Regent Center, a multi-purpose center serving the needs and interests of Mundelein and area residents. Regent Center membership offers a wide variety of programs and services including health/fitness options, trips and special events. You don't have to live in the park district to enjoy the programs.
