BEAUMONT TO WAIVE EMERGENCY FEES FOR UNPAID GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES
Beaumont Health is sensitive to the needs of the more than 5,000 Michigan-based federal workers affected by the partial government shutdown. Many are not receiving paychecks.

Therefore, retroactive to midnight, Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, Beaumont Health will waive emergency center and urgent care center copays and deductibles for federal workers who have been furloughed or are working without pay. This will also apply to their insured family members during the partial shutdown. This will remain in effect until the government reopens.

While federal employees are insured and will receive back pay once the shutdown ends, out-of-pocket health care costs add to the financial burdens they now face.

TOURISM & HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

Our Tourism & Hospitality Committee meets every other month and works successfully to promote both tourism and hospitality in our county, especially as these two important industries relate to our members. Supporting the "Blue Economy" initiative is a key part of our agenda for this group.

Currently chaired by TownePlace Suites by Marriott's Sales Manager, Michelle Matwiejczyk, this vibrant group includes regular appearances by representatives of our partners at the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) along with officials from a number of our Macomb communities. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, February 5 at 9 am at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Sterling Heights with speaker Lisa Edwards, executive board member for the Michigan Festivals and Events Association.
