Whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the
Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 3:17, NLT
(Abridged)
When you put your hands in front of you, what do you notice? Does each hand have four fingers, a thumb and the same three lines drawn across the palms of both hands? If your answer is yes, that's because they are purposely
designed to look the same.
But what about the life of a Christian and a unbeliever? Are they
designed to look the same?
It was no surprise to the apostle Paul that the Christians in Colosse lived a certain lifestyle before they become believers. But once they received their new life in Christ, Paul encouraged them to live their lives differently by removing "anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander and dirty language and "clothing themselves instead with mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, forgiveness and patience." (Colossians 3: 8,12)
Others may not see a difference in your hands, but they should see a difference between your lifestyle and others. So
take off daily your old character traits
and put on the new garments of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, forgiveness and patience so others can see there is something different about you.
Sharing the Word,
Jeaninne
Prayer: Father, as I grow in my life as a Christian, may others see the difference you've made in me. Amen.
