ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDA RD

You are invited to learn about The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) and the Accessibility Standand for Customer Service.

This 2-hour training session presented by Emily Walker, Policy Analyst from the Disabilities Issues Office, will help private and public sector organizations comply with the AMA.

Compliance and Deadline Requirement
As the five accessibility standards are introduced there will be new requirements and deadlines for affected organizations to remove barriers.

The Accessibility Standard in Customer Service is the only accessibility standard that has been enacted.  Learn more about the Accessibility Standard in Customer Service.
Compliance deadlines are:
  •  The Manitoba Government had one year to comply: November 1, 2016
  •  The public sector had two years to comply: November 1, 2017
  •  Private, small municipalities and non-profit organizations must comply within three years:  November 1, 2018.  
 

Lights of the North:  A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL

The Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce held a VIP Event Experience in conjunction with the Lights of the North at Red River Exhibition Park on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

The event opened with some mingling and introductions.  A great buffet of authentic Chinese and Sichaun Foods was served.  Capital K Ditillery served up two signature cocktails in Chamber glasses which VIP guests got to take home.

Greetings from our Premier Brian Pallister were given byAndrew Micklefield, MLA for Rossmere.

Then the entertainment began.The audience was wowed first by acrobats and contortionists, then by Bian Lian - operatic face changer and fire breather. After that, we had pictures taken with a panda and a dinosaur. Once it was dark our VIPS were able to tak e in the main stage at the Lights of the North and walk around the Red River Ex grounds to see some of the light structures before the rain began.
