Oaklands Education Centre

Oaklands Wetland has established itself as an education and research platform since its construction in 2012. City of Marion is now pleased to further promote the wetlands as an educational opportunity for schools and the wider community to learn about life at the wetlands.

The Oaklands Education Centre is joint venture by the City of Marion and Flinders University and includes a large 30 seat class room and field laboratory for studying water life.  The facility is available free of charge to schools, local colleges and community environmental groups.

Waste Education Volunteers Wanted

Would you like to help reduce waste at Council's biggest community event?

Marion Celebrates is on Saturday 23rd February 2019, 5pm - 9pm and it's a wonderful family-friendly community festival celebrating many cultures and one earth with music and dance from Latin America, Spain, India and Africa.

SA State of the Environment Report
Late last year the Environmental Protection Authority released the 7th State of the Environment Report for South Australia. The report is prepared at least once every 5 years and is a barometer of the state's environmental health.

This report evaluates five environmental themes: Climate, Air, Water, Land, and Coasts. It also includes expert analyses of three important issues - Biodiversity, Aquatic Ecosystems, and Coastal Protection. This important report is worth a read. Why not add it to your summer reading list?
