Principal's Message
Taking daily attendance during distance learning is a very difficult task for our teachers. They are tasked with not only taking attendance every day but also having to do so by 1:25 PM. As we aren't able to have our students here on campus with us, the only way teachers can say for certain that your child is attending is if they see your child on Zoom, your child answers the daily classroom attendance question in Google Classroom, communicates with the teacher in Google Classroom, and/or completes the day's assignments. If your child is not in the Zoom meeting, answering the daily Google question, communicating with his or her teacher and/or completing assignments daily prior to 1:25 PM then your child will be marked absent for the school day.

Our #1 hope during distance learning is that all of our students are able to participate in all of their teacher's Zoom lessons. This is a fabulous opportunity to get the much needed instruction from your child's teacher. We do understand, however, that this may not always be an option. Hopefully, we will all be together at school in the near future!

STOP BULLYING NOW...
Stand up & Speak out!

Southern Kern Unified School District has a policy to prevent bullying! Our goal is to provide a quick and easy way for students and parents to report bullying or safety concerns anonymously to their school. In March SKUSD began implementing a new app, STOPit, for students to use for reporting bullying incidents. The app is available for students to use on their Chromebooks in grades 4th and 5th grade. Parents and students can also download the app on their personal electronic device using Google Play or the Apple App Store. We recommend that parents of students in grade K-3 get the app and assist their child in reporting.
