ARTIST ADRIANA VIDAL
Art and animals have always been a part of her life but for years she only had time for the occasional doodle or commission. Currently she is working predominantly with watercolor and ink to create mixed media pieces focused on her love of nature with an eye to showcasing endangered species. She also creates 3 dimensional shadow box pieces that are generally nature scenes that combine 3D items with paintings.  In addition, she creates hand bound journals, small polymer clay or paper clay sculptures, and small acrylic paintings. She is happy to do commissioned pieces; she specializes
in painting Pet Portraits.
As an artist in Los Angeles, she participated in several art shows, fundraisers, and holiday boutiques and had studio space at the Hawthorne Arts Complex. She was a member of The Word is Art Gallery from 2013 until 2014; in addition to selling her art at the gallery, she helped provide social media support for the members. After that she was a member at the Ten Women Gallery on Main Street in Santa Monica, CA until 2015 where she sold her art and wrote the monthly newsletter.
Since moving to Columbia, SC in 2016, she has become a member of 701 Center for Contemporary Art (701CCA), Crooked Creek Art League (CCAL) and the SC Watermedia Society (SCWS).

About this piece
“Champion Trees” is an 11”x14” piece using a combination of watercolors, watercolor pencils, and sepia ink.
Her inspiration was a photo she took
during a visit to Congaree Park.
The trees were just amazing and the interplay of the vine on the tree with the shadows created by the vine’s leaves just made her want to paint it.

SEPTEMBER 20th, 2018
NATIONAL FRIED RICE DAY
Order up a side of Hibachi Chicken Rice to celebrate National Fried Rice Day on September 20. Fried rice is the star of the meal. It’s the flavor that captures the diners’ hearts and keeps them coming back for more.
Together with shrimp, chicken or beef, fried rice makes a complete meal. More adventurous foodies can spice it up with Spicy Chicken Rice.
All the flavors and aromas add up to a memorable meal, one made for celebrating. National Fried Rice Day provides that and more!
NATIONAL STRING CHEESE DAY
It’s time for America to stand together in support of our love for String Cheese. Join us as we celebrate National String Cheese Day on September 20. Whether you call it String Cheese, Snack Cheese or Cheese Sticks…there’s no denying that you call it delicious!  Pack it for a picnic. Have it on a hike. Pass it out for a team snack. And of course, no lunch is complete without this tasty treat.
You’ve got to hand it to String Cheese—it’s the fun, easy and protein-packed food that goes wherever you do! It’s no wonder
String Cheese has so much “a-peel” with both kids and adults alike.
Usually made with mozzarella, String Cheese melts easily when heated making it an excellent addition to recipes, too.
Perhaps the most enjoyable part of String Cheese is deciding how to eat it. Most people go for the classic “peel down and chow down” method—separating each stick into thin strands. (After all, it is kind of fun to play with your food!) Others prefer the “get down to business” approach of removing the wrapper and biting into the stick. (Why wait to get that delicious cheese into your belly?) However, you choose to eat it, get your hands on some every September 20th!
NATIONAL PUNCH DAY
National Punch Day is observed each
year on September 20th. While there are several directions this day could go,
such as honoring tools used to make
holes or a day created to throw a few punches at a punching bag, we will direct you toward the thirst quenching version of the delicious, refreshing drink.
National Punch Day is listed as one many American Food Holidays.
A wide assortment of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, fall into the category of punch.
Often made with a combination of fruit juice and a carbonated beverage, a punch is served at parties weddings and other celebrations in large, wide bowls known as punch bowls. Punch was believed to have been introduced by sailors to England via India in the early seventeenth century. Punch grew quickly in popularity and was soon spread to other countries.
The word punch is a loanword from Hindi panch (meaning five). The drink was originally made with five ingredients: alcohol, sugar, lemon, water and tea or spices. The original drink was named paantsch.
Soft drink manufacturers today distribute many types of “fruit punch” beverages. Typically they are red in color and despite the name, they only contain a small fraction of actual fruit juice with the major constituents being sugar or corn syrup, citric acid, and artificial flavors.
NATIONAL PEPPERONI
 CHEESE DAY
On September 20th, we recognize the most popular pizza ever created. Pepperoni Pizza Day celebrates the pizza enjoyed by young and old alike. While pizza comes in many flavors, pepperoni is the single most popular pizza. Whether you like your pizza Chicago Style or New York Style, thin and crispy or deep dish, top it with pepperoni!

According to legend, Raffaele Esposito created the first pizza in June of 1889 in honor of the Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy. He created the Pizza Margherita, a pizza topped with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella, which represented the colors of the Italian flag. While pizza has evolved since that time to include a multitude of toppings from anchovies and pineapple to sausage and bacon, pepperoni remains the most popular.
Italian-Americans developed the ever-popular topping through time-honored sausage making techniques. The seasoned pork and beef sausage is smoked and cured until the resulting product is ready to be sliced and placed on a delicious pie.
