Good morning,
Earlier this month, CCRPC, Champlain Housing Trust, and Housing Vermont held a press conference to review the results of the first two years of Building Homes Together (BHT), a coordinated five-year campaign to increase the housing supply in Chittenden County by 3,500 homes, 700 of which should be permanently affordable.
One of two housing production goals is currently being met. Over the first two years of the campaign, over 1,600 net new homes were added to the housing stock in Chittenden County, which exceeds the campaign goal of 700/year. However,
only 191 homes are permanently affordable, which is well shy of the 280 needed to meet the overall affordability goal. View the

BHT continues to call for increased investment through local trust funds at the community level, full funding of state sources like the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board, and another $37 million state housing bond. BHT and CCRPC also offers support for municipal tools such as zoning changes in communities that want to address the shortage of housing.

VTrans Statewide Public Transit Policy Plan - Survey & Fall Forums
Do you ride the bus? Carpool? Uber? VTrans wants your input and will be holding regional forums throughout the state this fall to gather feedback on existing public transportation services, service gaps and challenges, and potential solutions from stakeholders and transit riders. The Chittenden County public forum will take place on November 28, 2018 at 9:00am at the CCRPC (110 West Canal St., Winooski).
An interactive survey is currently available to provide feedback.

Winooski River Bridge Scoping Study - Fall Project Update
On October 15th, the project was presented to the Winooski City Council. The Council consensus agreed with the Advisory Committee recommendation on a preferred alternative. The remaining steps in this project include a presentation and recommendations to the Burlington City Council - a meeting likely to take place in November.

Winooski Avenue Transportation Study Underway
The City of Burlington and the CCRPC, with assistance from Resource Systems Group (RSG), are looking at ways to make this important roadway safe, inviting, and convenient for users of all ages and abilities -- including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transportation riders. We are studying the entire length of Winooski Avenue, from the intersection with Riverside Avenue to the intersection of Howard Street (at St. Paul Street).

"Freedom in a Can: Finding Sustainability in 72 Square Feet" - November 7 at UVM
The tiny-house movement hits the road and comes to UVM on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Davis Center's Mansfield Room. As part of an Open House earlier in the day on the Andrew Harris Commons outside the Davis Center (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.), one couple will share their tiny-house-on-wheels - a 1957 "canned ham" trailer combining a solar powered electrical system with a golden-age, vintage look.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Grant Program: Applications Due November 30
Approximately $2.4 million in grants are available to expand Vermont's network of electric vehicle charging stations (also called Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, or EVSE). Governments (Federal, State, municipal, public education institutions, public utilities, and other public entities), businesses, non-profits, homeowner associations, electric utilities and EVSE equipment providers are eligible for grant funding.

WNRCD Seeks Participants
for Trees for Streams
The Winooski Natural Resource Conservation District is currently seeking landowners
who live along rivers or streams within Chittenden County for our 2019 Trees for Streams program. WNRCD wants to work with you to identify streambanks along your property that suffer from or are vulnerable to erosion and then coordinate riparian buffer plantings.
Riparian buffers are the grasses, shrubs, and/or trees that grow along streams. In natural conditions these plants colonize streambanks, controlling erosion and helping to filter and clean stormwater runoff before it enters our waterways.

Local Emergency Management Plan (LEMP) Seminar: November 8

Flood Training Website Launched
FloodTraining.vermont.gov is now fully available for administrative officers (AO) of municipal flood hazard and river corridor bylaws. The site features tools and case studies for AOs, members of Development Review Boards and other community officials. The new site complements FloodReady.vermont.gov with its focus on community planning for flood resilience, and the technical materials available at the DEC Rivers page. Learn More »
