Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Weekly Chimes

We ARE home! ... and glad! Very weary but thankful, our 36 pilgrims concluded a glorious adventure through England and most of us returned home Monday evening. We will schedule time to tell you about some of our "God-moments" and learnings soon (so we don't forget). If you've followed the blog, you know our pilgrimage was full of beauty and grace, but also of building new and stronger relationships. Every step brought us closer to God.

BUT NOW... we are home and it feels right. Tonight we resume our Wednesday night routines. I am leading a teaching series along with Ashley+ about Christian living in a world that keeps throwing us new challenges. "Formed by Love" is our theme. Our quest is how to live a faithful life when it seems every day brings a new crisis. How to sort out the "world's" ways from God's ways in a practical manner? How to manage to keep a good attitude even when "bad guys" seem to have the upper hand? What rules our life and how does that work out?

The work is based upon Scott Bader-Saye's "Formed by Love" - part of the Church teaching series. We will be also guided by Will Willimon's "Fear of the Other" and learnings from our trip of the practical life of C.S. Lewis. Come join us. Eucharist 6:00; Supper 6:30; Teaching and discussion 7-8:00.

This Saturday at 2:00, we will give thanks and commend to God one of our gentle souls who died last month. Pegg Frank's funeral will be followed by a reception in the parish hall.

Sunday will be BLESSED with good worship, Sunday School and Youth Group (EYC). If you are interested in being received into the Episcopal Church or just want to learn more about it, Kipper deGavre is leading discussion in the Library at 9:15 and Juniors and Seniors in High School are meeting in Alfriend House. Ashley is presenting week three of women in the Bible who speak and act for God - especially in those weird stories of the Apocrypha.

There's likely more going on. But that's all I have been able to pack in my brain (which is now about 3/4 across the Atlantic Ocean). I look forward to seeing you tonight and this weekend!

Peace and blessings in Christ,
