Day 79: Cups of Gratitude and Buckets of Love

Destination:  Brookline, Vermont
Brookline is a small town of around 550 people in Windham County in southeastern Vermont. The West River flows along the southwestern edge of town. Brookline is 122 miles northwest of Boston MA.

Fun Facts:
Before Vermont became the 14th state, it existed as an independent nation for 14 years. It became independent from England in 1777. Locals began printing their own currency, enacting laws that banned slavery and established a postal service.

The state is the largest producer of maple syrup in the country. It takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup!

Art Form:  Poetry on Ceramics
"Our Mission is to cultivate world peace that begins at home and heart. We focus on the common ritual of all cultures: eating, drinking and sharing a meal. We infuse that ritual by serving us gentle reminders of what matters most. Our art is our activism. Our way is our work".  (Noelle VanHendrick)
ZPO Noelle and Eric

"The 'art' of our work is not the work itself...
the experiences and moments cultivated around the pieces...
the genuine feeling that happens when you are with them...
give them...and receive them...
that is the art..." ~Noelle

ZPO PlatesInTheSunshine

"Our work is about letting go...of outcome...Our work is about receiving the possibilities of now...
surrender and sip...Our work is about healing...feeling...believing...and knowing we are all in this together...
Our work comes from a centered and intended place spiraling out...dancing and embracing the flavor of
the moment...Our work is about freedom...to grow our gardens...Our work is about the power found inside
of you...the internal...eternal...flame...and that feeling that brings you to your knees...weeping with gratitude
for the opportunity to truly experience...beauty...Our work is about...the heaven within...Our work is..." ~Noelle

ZPO ThrowingClay

ZPots ceramics are adorned with Noelle's words and images gently reminding us that we belong, and that we are in this together. The pieces are of empowerment and positivity. They hold the knowledge that each and every one of us is here to love and change the world through that love.

"My wheel was found in a woman's garage...It was her son's...he was blind...he had died years ago...I was able to see some of the pots he had made on our wheel...covered jars, cups, vases, bowls...it amazed me...inspired me...to close my eyes completely...and feel my way..."   ~Noelle

ZPots NoellesWheel

"Recycling - not all pots decide to be...they kick the bucket...to be transformed and made again...A potter understands what it means to crack and crumble...to see your creation...your Self... become undone....only to become again and again....with a deeper consideration to serve you and the world well..." ~Noelle

The Company:  ZPots
Noelle VanHendrick and Eric Hendrick have been creating together for over 22 years.

ZPots Noelle and Eric

They live and work in Brookline, Vermont, homeschooling their 3 sons and making cups of love and buckets of peace, and so much more, for humanity.

Eric and Noelle are working towards a renewable future, and with this in mind, the electric kilns are powered by the Vermont Cow Power program. The electricity is generated by the surrounding Vermont farms. Cow Power promotes development of and reliance on renewable energy in Vermont. It creates a market for energy generated from a renewable biogas fuel derived from cow manure.

Joining Noelle and Eric in their creative work is a fantastic team of artisans and dream weavers that help make it all happen.

On this, our next-to-the-last day of our  "Around the World in 80 Days" journey, we are celebrating the end of an amazing world exploration with all of you. We have zig-zagged across the globe to over 50 different countries and cities. We celebrated World Music Sundays and "detoured" back to Kansas City for Wanderlust Week. Along the way you have cheered us on and found delight in the stories we've told. And you've bought items that caught your eye which has helped sustain us during this pandemic.
Stephanie

So we are celebrating YOU and thanking you for join us over these weeks. Our intrepid team raises our glasses of champagne in a toast of the fun adventures we've had. Stephanie, the main researcher of our tour destinations, worked remotely and contacted each and every artisan company we visited on our tour. Her carefully researched notes and pictures provided me with all the necessary details for each day's journey and the story we told.

Lonnie (left) has been our point man in keeping track of craft acquisitions and trip expenses. Eliot (right) has been our technical know-how guy, master-mind of all things electronically challenging and correcting the details. You would not have been able to purchase your "souvenirs" and necessities on this trip except for his technical skills.

And, as your tour leader, I have enjoyed every single day of our journey. You have been a great tour group and we look forward to planning new adventures for the future. Our "Cup of Gratitude" and our "Bucket of Love" are full and over-flowing.

Della, our "keeping-all-thing-store-based-running-smoothly" amazing manager, is already focused on the next activities at hand (Sidewalk Sale!) and advance planning for the weeks ahead full of new merchandise arrivals and helping me think of new explorations.

Yes, this part of our "Around the World" journey is coming to a close, but that doesn't mean an ending. As happens with all trips, there is a time to disembark and return home which means a new adventure can start. So, celebrate with us and then watch to see what we're up to next! And make sure you tune in tomorrow to discover our winners in our gift card drawings!!
