Dr. Carolyn O'Conor, MCMS President, will appear at the conference to introduce Terry Lachin, who will speak about "Webster Sewell and the Struggle for Equal Care."  Dr. Sewell was a 1930 graduate of the Howard University College of Medicine, practiced medicine during the 1930s, and during and after World War II.  He subsequently operated a medical clinic and "Birthing Center" in Norbeck, Maryland.  He was one of the few black doctors in Montgomery County, and a tireless advocate for equality in medical care.
