Book of Common Prayer to deepen your daily prayer life? Have you heard of Morning Prayer or the Daily Office and never understood how to put the pieces together? Then,
"Chirp and Mutter: A Tutorial for Daily Morning Prayer," may be for you.
As part of my unfiltered (and often irreverent) Bible study video series for millennials and seekers, I have produced a 30-minute tutorial on daily Morning Prayer according the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. In keeping with our recent spirit of experimentation, St. Helena's will be offering a comprehensive Christian formation program for children and adults based in the magical world of Harry Potter. Professor James Thomas of Pepperdine University has observed that these books, which have been translated into 79 languages, "have made millions of kids smarter, more sensitive, certainly more literate, and more ethical and aware of hypocrisy and lust for power. They've made children better adults ..." Harry Potter's creator, J. K. Rowling, is a practicing Christian, a self-professed "seeker" and a member of the Scottish Episcopal Church, and has made Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry a place for both children and adults to explore what it means to be a good person in a contemporary world.
Each Hogwarts class will correspond to a serious topic in the fundamentals of the Christian faith and the Episcopal Church, including the Lord's Prayer and the Creeds, ecological theology, the sacraments, and the Book of Common Prayer. All classes will be offered between the English and Spanish Masses at 10:15 am in a bilingual format, and previous knowledge of the Harry Potter books and films is not necessary.

Pet Blessing at both the 9 am and 11:30 am Masses. This service is a wonderful way to honor our animal companions who fill our lives with so much loyalty and love.
And come to our adult formation, Hogwarts Academy, at 10:15 am, when we will offer our class on
"Care of Magical Creatures" to reflect on our relationships with our animal friends!
