Getting accepted to the University of Iowa was the beginning of many "firsts" for Ana Arzate and her family. As a first-generation college student, attending college meant taking a new path no one in her family had taken before. As time progressed, she felt ready for another "first"-a summer internship in Paris, France.

Global research award to assist archaeological dig in Spain
Thanks to the assistance of a
Global Research Partnership Award (GRPA) from International Programs, University of Iowa Professor of Anthropology Katina T. Lillios, along with a group of UI students, will travel to Spain this coming July for the unique opportunity to participate in an archaeological excavation and develop important skills in research collaboration.
