The Eureka Theater is a Humboldt landmark. This Streamline Moderne (late Art Deco) theater was built in 1939 as the film and concert center for the North Coast. While showing its age, it is currently being restored to its original glory. It has many features, including a movie screen, a large stage, seating for 1200 (including the balcony), original murals, a projection booth with antique 16mm and 35mm projectors, numerous side rooms and offices, four bathrooms, a basement, a huge attic, roof access and a large 3 bedroom apartment behind the marquee (also currently being restored). The Eureka Theater is chock full of period furnishings and fixtures. The auditorium shows 80 years of decay while the two lobbies are nearly fully restored. Looking for a historic theater for your project? Check out what the Eureka Theater has to offer to your production!
