President & CEO

Illinois Chamber of Commerce

November 2, 2018

Today I make a bittersweet announcement that the Chamber's Vice President of Policy and Executive Director of the Infrastructure Council will be moving on from the Chamber to the corporate world.  While he will always remain dedicated to making Illinois a better place for employers to be successful, Ben has chosen to pursue that goal through an exciting new opportunity with Chamber member Illinois American Water.

In more than six years of service, the Chamber has benefitted tremendously from Ben's expertise, of the Chamber and employers across Illinois.

In addition to overseeing important academic studies, negotiating important legislation, providing insight and intelligence to members, I personally will always remember Ben as the father of the transportation "lockbox" amendment to the Illinois Constitution.  One of, if not the most, important victory for business and taxpayers in recent history.

While we are very sorry to see him go, we are excited for his new opportunity and that he will remain involved in the Chamber (also that we can now ask him for a dues increase!).  Best of luck from the entire Chamber community.

It is my pleasure to also announce that we have brought aboard a very uniquely qualified individual to fill Ben's very large shoes.  Rebecca Mason has worked closely with Ben and the Chamber during her six years with for the Transportation for Illinois Coalition, the state's leading advocate for transportation.  For TFIC Rebecca coordinated legislative activity, provided communications and research for a diverse set of coalition partners.  She also worked with trade associations, providing the exact kind of support she will bring to the members of the Infrastructure Council.  Please join me in welcoming Rebecca to the Chamber.

Finally, I also want to recognize Katie Stonewater, currently Executive Director of the Energy Council and Director of Government Affairs.  Katie's extensive experience and network on Capitol Hill allow her to make a seamless transition into Ben's duties in federal affairs.  Katie's new title will be Director of Government and Federal Affairs.
