examsExams - Important Information (Deadline today)

All Fall Term Instructors, you've received two very important emails  that we want to make sure don't get missed:
  1. As rates of accommodations increase, the university is working to provide instructors with supports. One initiative is to have all computer-assisted quizzes/tests/midterms proctored centrally by the Exams office. Because you don't yet know all accommodations required by students in your course, they are asking that ALL faculty report when their midterms are so that the exams office can be on stand by. If a computer exam is required, you will be asked to provide a copy of your exam. This deadline is a hard deadline TODAY-September 21. Review the attached user guide for our Exam Accommodation System Instructor portal for what to do.
  2. The second email sent out was requesting your FINAL exam booking. This is the typical request you get each semester. It is VERY important that you register for your final exam. If not, your exam may not be scheduled in the exam schedule, and your exam will not be printed centrally. This deadline is a hard deadline-September 21.

elpfExperiential Learning Project Fund

The Experiential Learning Project Fund (ELPF) is available again in 2018-19 to Queens's students, staff, and faculty. The goal of the Fund is to support costs associated with creating new for-credit and co-curricular experiential learning opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students at Queen's University. The Fund will support projects that increase capacity for Experiential Learning (EL) activities by integrating EL into courses or co-curricular projects, enabling students to apply workplace-linked skills on campus, across the country, or around the world.

Deadline for submission: October 19, 2018 (noon)
Notification of Decision: November 8, 2018

Grants will be in the range of $1,000-$2,000 per project, typically creating 5-10 new student EL roles per project. (Requests for funding amounts greater than $2,000 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
  • Applicants must submit their ELPF application and supporting documents by the deadline at noon.
  • Project Coordinators will confirm receipt of your application once submitted.
  • Applications will be scored based on the ELPF criteria outlined on the website.

webpublish Review of University Survey of Student Assessment of Teaching Questionnaire

A process is underway to renew the student assessment of teaching questionnaire, the University Survey of Student Assessment of Teaching (USAT). The Joint Committee on the Administration of the Agreement (JCAA) has tasked a subgroup to develop new questions, and a pilot survey of new questions will take place at the end of the Fall semester. The pilot will include a diverse range of courses from all faculties, including lecture, seminar, and lab courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as online, blended and face-to-face. A call will go out in early October inviting instructors to volunteer to have their course included in the pilot. Following analysis on the results of the pilot, consultations will be held to get feedback on the questionnaire. Details of the pilot will be provided in a further communication.
