HMA Overlay Project
The Contractor completed paving on Mott Avenue between 66th Street and 69th Street, School Street between 64th Street and 65th Street, 65th Street between School Street and Lamar Place and Lamar Place between 64th Street and 65th Street.
70th Street Patching Project in progress
The Contractor will be finishing up patching and surfacing grinding on 70 th Street between Colby Avenue and Hickman Road the week of September 24 th .  Please follow traffic control signs to provide a safe work environment.   All work is weather dependent.  
Sidewalk Project Update
The Contractor will be seeding and completing punch list items on 63rd Street, 64th Street and Del Matro Avenue the week of September 24th.  All work is weather dependent.

Flood Update
On August 22nd, we were notified FEMA denied the Individual Assistance request filed by Governor Reynolds. The Governor has vowed to appeal the denial.
While awaiting the federal process to consider funding for recovery, city staff continues to work with Emergency Operation Center and other Metro Partners to provide necessary data for the process. This is an ongoing, long-term process which regularly requires additional information gathering on the part of staff. In addition,staff is working through an "After Action" report which will document response during the flash flooding. It will also include recovery efforts following the flash flooding to identify opportunities for improvement should another incident of this magnitude occur in the City of Windsor Heights.
City-Wide Storm Water Review
The number #1 goal from the strategic planning session was to review our storm water. Bolton and Menk will present their report of the storm water system infrastructure analysis on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the City Council Meeting at 6:00 p.m. The city wide storm water report will provide a storm water management plan that models the existing storm water system and creates a priority list of recommended improvements that address any deficiencies in the existing storm sewer system.

Save the date! City News Hour November 12th- University Avenue Redesign
The City would like to invite the public to an input and informational meeting to be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Community Event Center. City Engineers from Bolton & Menk will provide displays showing the layout of the proposed roadway and streetscape elements including street lighting, way-finding signage, monumentation and corridor entrance signage. This is the time for residents to come and ask questions about the project.  More details about the meeting will follow in upcoming newsletters.
Parking Signs Change
In the spring of 2018, the City of Windsor Heights contracted Bolton and Menk Engineering firm to conduct a traffic safety study in the vicinity of Cowles Elementary School. One of the recommendations that came from the study was to align vehicle parking on the same side of the street as the sidewalk on 64th Street.

We have reviewed the 'No Parking' signs on all streets in Windsor Heights and found that we are not consistent with the recommendations provided by the traffic study.

Parking will be changed to the opposite side of your street within the next two weeks. The exact date of the change depends on many factors including weather and other concurrent projects so we cannot provide the exact date of the change in this letter.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause you. The signs will be posted on existing utility poles whenever possible. When we have to install new poles for the signs, they will be installed in the City's right-of-way (ROW) between the sidewalk and the road near property lines. Our goal is to not put signs and posts directly in front of people's houses in the ROW.

In addition, parking enforcement efforts are sensitive to the change and Police Department personnel will utilize good discretion related to enforcement of parking violations through the transition.

Walnut Creek Coalition Hosting Creek Clean-up on September 22nd
Come join us this Saturday for the Walnut Creek Stream Clean-up! Volunteers can check in at Colby Park at 10 a.m. - we will provide gloves, trash bags, snacks and water will be available. Clean up ends at 12 p.m.  If you have any questions contact: [email protected].
