Speaker : Christy Hammond, AVRS
Topic: DMV Updates/Review
Nikki Champagne has spent 23 years in the automotive industry, learning the business from several aspects. She spent many years working in Business Offices, mainly doing Contracts & DMV, prior to an attempt to leave the business - which was short lived! The past dozen years have found Nikki working for a DMS provider, training Sales, Finance & Business Office staff for a few years, followed by DMV/BPA providers, training DMV Processors, as well as Sales & Finance Managers. Nikki now has the privilege of leading the team of Account Executives at AVRS, as the Executive Director of Training.

Christy Hammond is a Client Engagement Manager for AVRS. Following in her mother's footsteps (as is often the case), she's been in the auto industry for 20+ years. She worked her way up the ladder from Receptionist to Office Manager at a Toyota dealership, gaining knowledge and experience with all desks in the office. She moved to a new family, AVRS, starting as an Account Executive, and became a Client Engagement Manager within two years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her baby girl and her fiancĂ©.

Happy LABOR DAY Weekend ADOMA!

Allynn M. 2018-2020
First I would like to thank you all for electing me as president of the executive board. ADOMA means a lot to me, I started attending monthly meetings back in 1983 right before I became the office manager. I have been secretary, vice president and president of the Los Angeles chapter. Was active with executive board for several years. In early 2000, I stepped away from ADOMA to be a softball mom to my daughter. I would attend monthly meetings and conference when we were not traveling for tournaments. Well in 2013 she went off to college and I started attending ADOMA meetings and conference every month. I am so glad to be able to involved and look forward to working with the awesome people who make ADOMA so great.

With that being said we are always looking for help planning monthly speakers, mini conference and conference. If you would like to get involved or just have an idea reach out to me or any board member. Your input is always welcome.

Thanks again for trusting me to keep ADOMA going.

Aloha,

Employee or independent contractor?
Dynamex's new test confounds CA employers

Published on Tue, 08/21/2018 - 11:50pm

California businesses are continuing to struggle to make sense of this year's Dynamex v. Superior Court case, in which the California Supreme Court radically modified the test for determining whether someone working for a business is an employee or an independent contractor. Casting aside decades of developed multi-factor tests, the Supreme Court alighted on a new, simple, three-factor test. Under this test, to prove a worker is an independent contractor and not an employee, a business must show all three of the following:

Amendments clarify employer restrictions on requesting salary history of applicants

Published on Tue, 08/21/2018 - 11:50pm

As we reported in our 2018 New Laws article, California Labor Code 432.3 imposed a new prohibition against an employer seeking or considering salary history (including compensation and benefits) of an applicant for employment. However, the new law, as originally drafted, left some ambiguities. Now, the Governor has signed AB 2282 into law, which clarifies the following ambiguities in Section 432.3.

These Four Surprising Stress Symptoms
Might Be Sabotaging Your Work
Written by Author: Courtney Clark

Not all symptoms of stress look like you would expect them to. If you suffer from one of these lesser-known stress symptoms, you might be sabotaging your success without even knowing it.

Stress doesn't always look like an overwhelmed executive shouting at her assistant to gather up files before a meeting, a worried salesman trying desperately to make quota, or a busy mom struggling to get two toddlers to put their shoes on the right feet before getting in to their car seats. In fact, stress can often fool us by showing itself in unexpected ways.
