The Palm Beach Civic Association is delighted to bring cardiothoracic surgeon and television personality, Dr. Mehmet Oz to The Breakers for an inspiring program filled with wellness advice and encouragement for a fit lifestyle.
The event is our only fundraiser for the season, and supports programs and education initiatives throughout the year.
This year the award winners are the Town of Palm Beach Police Department and Fire-Rescue Department.

Palm Beach Not Ready to Ban Shared Scooters and Bikes Yet
A town board has punted until next month a proposed ban on scooter and bicycle ride sharing in Palm Beach Town staff is, at the Town Council's direction, drafting an ordinance intended to prohibit shared scooters and shared bicycles from littering sidewalks and public or private property.

Business Workshop
The Town of Palm Beach will host a three-hour workshop in Council Chambers as a follow up to the 2018 Business Workshop to bring Town staff together with local experts to discuss the future of the business community and ensure sustainability. Moderators will provide an overview relative to how the business community currently interacts with Town government and discuss completed and proposed process improvements to improve doing business with the Town and overall communication.

Palm Beach Insists on Strict Rules for Dock at Mar-a-Lago
The Town Council said Wednesday it won't allow a dock at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club without legal protections for neighbors, at least one of whom has voiced concerns about security and noise. Council members said they want tight controls on noise, lights, hours of operation and assurances that, if a dock is approved, there will be no commercial use, no future expansion and no jet skis.

75 Years of History - The Civic Association Works to Keep Palm Beach,
Palm Beach
It all started in 1944, when a handful of civic minded Palm Beach residents formed the association. Their mission - then and now - is to preserve, protect, and enhance the quality of life on the island.
Beach erosion, gambling, port expansion, and inlet deepening were among the major issues of the association in the early days - concerns that remain front and center today.

The Deerfield Beach man who drove his blue Ferrari into the Lake Worth Inlet last month told police that Jesus told him to do it, according to a police report released Monday. "Jesus made me the smartest man on Earth," the man told police, the report says, "and it's so hard to have this much responsibility."

Florida Could Enter Era of Digital Driver's License
Florida could become one of the first states to allow electronic versions of driver's licenses stored on cellphones as proof of identification. Republican state Rep. James Grant and Democrat Rep. Matt Willhite are both working on a bill that would create a statewide database to store driver's licenses and insurance information.

West Palm's $2 Billion
Construction Boom
West Palm Beach has a $2 Billion dollar construction boom going on in 2019.
The Bristol is set to be completed in the second quarter this year. It's the most expensive condo ever in Palm Beach County.
Not all the work is skyscrapers. A new fire station is being built, several hotel and apartment complexes, town homes, and commercial projects too.

New Hurricane Scale Might Change the Way We Measure Dangerous Storms
AccuWeather says it has created a new way of rating hurricanes that goes beyond the long-used method of categorizing storms based solely on wind strength - and its forecasters are hoping it catches on. The Pennsylvania-based weather data, forecasting and media company announced on Wednesday what it calls its AccuWeather RealImpact Scale for Hurricanes.
