Students are invited to participate in the Fall programs put on by Special Gifts Theatre, an education and therapeutic theatre organization with locations in Winnetka, Chicago, Palatine and Libertyville for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ranging in age from 10 years and older. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the  Emergency Alert System (EAS)  and  Wireless Emergency Alerts  (WEA) on the backup date of  October 3, 2018  due to ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence. The WEA portion of the test commences at  2:18 p.m. EDT , ( 1:18p.m.  Central) and the EAS portion follows at  2:20 p.m. EDT . (The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed.  The WEA test message will have a header that reads "Presidential Alert" and text that says:  "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System.
