SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bonjour!

Today, I would like to express my gratitude for the PTO Board members and for the strong and relentless work they do to lead and support our community. Thank you to all parents who came out to the PTO general meeting last night. Moments of sharing and community are important and the effort made by parents to join us on a work/school night and take an interest in what is happening at Lycée is greatly appreciated. One of the evening highlights was the introduction of the work Lycée will do with Matthew Kinkaid, of Overcoming Racism , to find a common vocabulary and a baseline understanding of racism in order to continue to “build a harmonious, positive and proactive community that addresses race as seen as an asset rather than a deficit ” to use Matthew’s words. Within our diverse community, we strive to have the necessary skills to find solutions when there is conflict, disagreement or misunderstanding, and we are excited to have Matthew help lead this important work.

I also want to send out a huge s hout out to our fantastic room parents, without whom many of our activities would not be possible, and to all parents who volunteer their time at our school. Parents are assisting in the cafeteria, in the classroom, doing art work for Nuit de la Musique (the projects are just amazing...wait and see!) or putting in countless hours to help with organizing Nuit de la Musique, the best party in town! Parents are also donating their time to assist with Black History Month events, organizing the Mardi gras parade and other carnival activities for our students, participating in board and committee meetings to spearhead and oversee the growth and progress of our school, and so much more. Opportunities to volunteer in our community are there for all: please reach out to our campus principals if you are interested in contributing. Thank you for all you do, every day, to improve our community. You are our unsung heroes!

I look forward to spending some fun time with all of you on Sunday at the gala , for a night to remember!
