Way of Love
Discussion Time during Coffee Hour!
This Sunday we examine the first of the seven practices for a Jesus-centered life: Turn. In our busy lives, how do we consistently pause, listen and choose to turn from hatred, fear, injustice and oppression toward the Way of Jesus, which is the way of truth, love, hope, justice and freedom. After the 10:00 service, come down for coffee and conversation about the Way of Love in general, and the practice of pausing, listening, and turning to love. Please come and join us!

Sunday School and Youth Group
Sunday School:
- Chapel (Pre-K & K) - Barbara Ferry will be leading us to wonder about the Old Testament Lesson from Exodus. Children will hear how God got Moses' to stop, turn and listen.
- Godly Play(Gr. 1-3) - Our class will hear the Parable of the Good Shepherd and consider why the sheep follow the shepherd, and be reassured of the shepherd's love and attention, no matter what.
- Living the Good News(Gr. 4-5) - Students will focus on today's Gospel, with the lower grades wondering about Jesus' call to fish for people and the upper grades exploring how Jesus empowers us to keep trying.
Middle and high school youth are invited to join Madi and Kitty in the loft for youth group today. We're going to kick off our superhero curriculum with a discussion of the man himself - Superman! Come out for snacks and great conversation!
Bible Study this Sunday
at 4pm in the Library
Please join us in the parish library at 4 pm on Sunday as we continue our study of Romans. All are welcome!
No prior preparation is necessary and feel free to drop in any week.

Coffee Hour Needs YOUR Support!
Enjoy meeting friends after the 10 a.m. Sunday service with snacks? If so, coffee hour needs YOU! Please sign up for a Sunday!
It's very easy. Coffee is already made and brewing; hot water for tea is already heating by the time you arrive. We need at least two volunteers per week to bring in snacks, any of the following: cookies, muffins, pound cake, donuts, bagels, fruit, cheese and crackers, etc. Lemonade and half and half will be in the fridge; all volunteers need to do is set up and then clean up at noon once coffee hour ends.
The Coffee Hour sign up sheet with dates is outside the sanctuary; there are still many available slots to be filled. Please sign up this week or e-mail your preferred dates to Jane Aylor at [email protected]. Thanks in advance from the Parish Life team!

, which tells the story of creating a viable plan for D-Day and winning the allies 1943 decision to go with the "Overlord Strategy" for

Blessing of the Animals
Sunday, October 7 at 4pm!
Come to the courtyard for a brief service of prayers, blessings, a hymn, and a treat (or two)!
2nd Annual "Kenya Night" for Nyumbani
Saturday, October 20 at 6-9:30 pm in the Undercroft
The Outreach Committee invites you to a night of sheer fun for all ages - dinner and dancing with a tribal flair, a Kenyan craft boutique, children's crafts, raffles and more! Nyumbani is an orphanage in Kenya that supports children and caregivers infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Funds raised will be used to build a new greenhouse to grow fresh vegetables for the children and caregivers. Donations of wool yarn and razor scooters in good condition would be joyously accepted.

Christ Church Women (CCW) Meeting on October 21
at 11:15am in the Library/Parlor
Please join the Christ Church Women (CCW) Sunday, October 21, 2018 after the 10:00 AM service for their monthly fellowship and brunch. This month, Pam Prindle will lead the demonstration in making Anglican prayer beads and each person will create their own to take home to use for prayer and meditation. (Anglican Prayer Beads can deepen and transform prayer into a richer spiritual experience.) We have ample supplies for creating the prayer beads so this event is free!
