Garden Beautification
A Garden Can Teach!
A special  thanks to Beautification Chairman Audrey Pao and the many parents and students that volunteered to helped clean up our garden this month. These volunteers came in on Saturday and Sunday to refill planter boxes with soil donated by Jackie Ditmer and Susan Friedman, a landscape architect Bollinger science teachers, Kim Lawrence and Kaci Piona, worked with the beautification committee to transform our weeds into a teaching garden where our children's hands will get dirty as they learn about plants and how they grow.

Special thanks to Terry Stelter, whos company, APEC, donated $200 toward this project and Jimenez family that has help weed and clean up over the last few months. We also want to thank the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girls Scouts as well the many families that helped. They include: Chan Family, Ip Family, Shah Family, Silva Family, Battula Family, Bouder Family, Connelly Family, Jimenez Family, Thompson Family, Borham Family, Kahandawala Family, Hamilton Family, Ku Family and any other families we forgot to mention! Thank you for your help!

If you want help in the future clean-ups, or donate seeds, gardening tools, disinfecting wipes, etc. contact Kim or Kaci

SpiritWear Delays

We have been told by some parents that they have not received their Spirit Wear, which they ordered in August.  SpiritWear is made to order and typically takes 14 business days (approx. three weeks to receive).

The vendor also contacted us and said he has had a delay in delivering some of the SpiritWear and he apologizes for the delay.  He is working hard to fulfill the orders.  We understand your children are anxious to get their wear and we appreciation  your understanding.  If you have questions about your order contact Bret via email: Bret@streamlineink.com.

Street Safety
Bike Rodeo Coming Oct. 18th 3:00 pm
Bollinger Canyon is offering a Bike rodeo on Oct. 18th after school.  This is a great opportunity for children to learn about the safety aspects of riding a bicycle in a safe, controlled, hands-on environment.  Students will learn the rules of the road, have their helmet properly checked and practice riding their bike in a supervised bicycle course.
All students at the school are encouraged to bike or scooter (remember your helmet) to school on the day of the event.

Although this program is put on by Street Smarts, we need about 10 to 12 parent volunteers to help in setting up and helping at the stations.

California State PTA is proud to sponsor
which has passed through the Senate and the Assembly.

We ne ed your help to encoura ge Governor Brown to sign this measure into law!
This measure would add family engagement to Priority #3 (Parental Involvement) of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). LCFF Priority 3 calls for all school entities to provide active and meaningful participation and training for all families.
AB 2878 (Chávez) seeks to use research-based guidelines to define what constitutes authentic family engagement within the Education Code.
As school districts implement their own parent involvement activities and programs, AB 2878 (Chávez) would suggest practices such as: outreach in multiple languages, targeting families that are underrepresented in the school and/or school district and include program strategies that are diverse and innovative to reflect a modern student population.
If you are interested in helping this bill get signed, see please follow the link:
