  BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPOTLIGHT
Getting to Know Dina Bell Nance & Training by Design, Inc.

At the Chamber, we are so proud of our members, and this month, in honor of Black History Month, we wanted to take a moment in each of our newsletters to shine a spotlight on one of our members! This week, we spoke to Dina Bell Nance, founder of Training by Design, Inc.

Tell me about your company and how you got started.

On June 7, 2018, Training by Design, Inc. Celebrated 16 Years of Business Excellence in providing Professional Development Training, Technology Training, Project Management Training & Consulting, Business Coaching and Speaking Engagements to both the Public and Private Sectors. We also create Global Training Solutions geared toward excellence. We bring over 30 years of experience in the Project Management, Training and Customer Service areas of expertise.

Approximately 30 years ago, I graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore county with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. I was beyond excited to believe that I was about to change the world through one software development program at a time. After working at a variety of consulting companies developing software, testing applications, writing documentation and supporting many teams, it quickly came to my attention, that there has to be more, because this is not my calling! Shortly after I had that epiphany, I was called into my boss's office and informed that our Federal client did not like our program and did not believe it was working so they requested that we develop a new one. After many days of anguish and stress, I went back into his office and asked if I could go meet with the client because I felt so strongly that it was a training issue. After meeting with their team for approximately 2 hours and showing them how to use the system properly, the love of Training, Client Engagement and Problem Solving overtook me on the spot. Yes, we had a happy client.  I felt very strongly like  God was shifting me into something geared specifically by him, so after careful praying and planning, Training by Design, Inc. - "Where God Is the CEO" was established on June 2, 2002 and the world has not been the same since.
