EAGLE WEEKLY
SMA HIGH SCHOOL
FROM OUR ASSISTANT HEAD OF SCHOOL

Hello SMA Families!

It is such an exciting time of year with activities in full swing. On Wednesday, September 26th, our 9th grade students will officially be welcomed into the Eagle Regiment with a beret ceremony at 7:05 am. We invite all families to come and support our newest Eagles. Please give yourself a few extra minutes to park and check in at the Main Office.

All cadets will be getting their picture taken in the next two weeks. Please make sure that uniforms and haircuts are impeccable. SMA has so many events in the coming weeks, make sure to check the calendar so you don't miss out on any of the fun. Have a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend!!!

We need some parent volunteers to assist with proctoring the exams. A proctor may work in a testing room with a teacher supervising. The duties will include helping to pass out and collect materials, handing out breakfast in the testing room, getting the brown-bag lunches and handing them out in testing rooms, monitoring cadet bathroom usage, and staying in a testing room while a teacher may take a brief break. Help will be needed from 7:00am-2:00pm. Please send an email to  pamela.donehew@oursma.org  if you would like to volunteer.  All volunteers should be approved per the county. INTERACT CLUB & CONNECTING HANDS PROJECT

Operation Christmas Child Kick Off: September 28!

Interact Club and Connecting Hands Project will be participating for the third year for Operation Christmas Child, our international project. We will be making gift boxes for children from different ages. The gift boxes will be distributed to children from all over the world through Samaritan’s Purse during the holidays.

Last year, SMA donated 100 boxes for OCC. This year, our goal is to make 150 gift boxes! On Friday, September 28th, there will a table by the flagpole for cadets to drop off toys. Encourage them to bring the small toy at the table and they will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prices.

If your club or sports team or you and your family would like to fill a shoe box, please pick up a box in the front office or stop by room 216.

The donations need to be in by November 9th and National Collection Day will be November 12th-19th.
Thanks for your support!

How to make a gift box
Find a shoe box
Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoe box. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately.
Girl or Boy?
Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
Fill with Gifts
Select a quality “wow” toy such as a doll, soccer ball with pump, or stuffed animal. Then add other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies
