A
Celtic Christmas
with Jeff Snow
On
Wed., Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m., the Library will be filled with the sounds of "A Celtic Christmas." The concert will combine songs, tunes, history and stories from England, Ireland and Scotland with the music of Christmas. Familiar, and some not so familiar, songs will have you singing, laughing and wishing for more when it's all over.
Jeff Snow is a multi-instrumentalist who shares the music, and the stories behind the music, of Scotland, Ireland and England. Growing up in a home where old Scottish folk songs were the everyday sounds, Snow developed an early love for Celtic music. Much of the history of these lands was preserved in song. Snow's music has been described as "quiet and relaxing," and while much of it is, he'll periodically let loose and foot stomping will begin. He plays the guitar, autoharp and bouzouki. He can also find his way around a drum set and most of the percussion family.

Mobile Library to
Visit
COA December 17
This month's mobile library visit to the Council on Aging will take place on
Tues., Dec. 17 , from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The t
heme is "Celebrate the Holidays" and Adult Services Librarian Libby Fox will have a selection of both general and themed books, TV shows and movies, magazines and music.
People who have a library card will be able to borrow items from an assortment of items; those who don't have a card can sign up for one, with a photo ID. Library m
aterials may be returned to either the COA or the Library.

Lego-mania at the Library
Tues., Dec. 3, 10, and 17, 4:00-5:00 p.m.-- Lego-mania is open for all ages of builders. Both Legos and Duplos are available to use at this library event. No registration required.

The Friends of the Library's "Buy a Brick" program is offering bricks for $85 each (FMPL members receive a 15% discount) that will be laid into the brick walkway between the parking lot and the Peirce St. sidewalk. This Month's Marvelous Museum Pass
The New England Aquarium is a perennial favorite of families, and is a global leader in ocean exploration and marine conservation.
New things to see include the Indo-Pacific Coral Reef Exhibit, showcasing the vibrancy and richness of coral reef habitats. You'll learn about reefs' vital role in the lives of tropical fish, sea turtles, sharks, and thousands of marine animal species. This new exhibit is housed in a 9,000-gallon floor-to-ceiling tank that will make you feel like you're immersed in the reef.
Each pass admits up to four people at half off the regular admission price. It's disposable and doesn't need to be returned to the Library. The Aquarium will be closed on Christmas Day, and opens at noon on New Year's Day.

Did You Know...
...anyone with a Middleborough Public Library card can access Consumer Reports Online for free, from the Library, from home, or anywhere else with an internet connection? Make sure to check their product reviews before you do your holiday gift shopping.
Start at the Library website's home page
under "Resources," and click on the Consumer Reports tab. In the new window that opens up, click on the Consumer Reports link,
enter your library card number and go.
Once you're logged on, you can browse various categories on the left hand side of the screen or do a search at the top of the page. Searches will typically yield a product comparison along with a buyer's guide and news articles related to it.
Consumer Reports is a nonprofit organization providing unbiased product ratings and reviews, putting more than 5,000 products through rigorous testing each year.
