As we dive into a new month, our Riverview Rockets are soaring into new content and learning. It is the time of the year that students delve into the new more advanced learning. Our teachers are working with our students on setting academic goals and showing "grit" as they handle more challenging tasks.
Our BEAM projector is up and running! Students have the opportunity to explore and play in the morning, during indoor recess, and at the end of their school day. Our Physical Education classes, along with many other classes, have been finding new ways to use this BEAM to build on opportunities for movement. Throughout the course of the last month, Mrs. Sardanopoli visited each classroom for morning meeting. During this time, she talked about the "red rubber ball" analogy and how everyone is connected through play, but also by the fact that we all come to school each and every day to learn. She reminded students about showing their Riverview Rocket behavior each day and how this directly impacts their learning. They discussed the importance of making their best choices inside the classroom and out.
We also had our student-led Kindness assembly. Our Third Grade students took great pride in teaching their classmates all about kindness through skits, essays, posters, and explanations about the importance of being kind. It was wonderful to have some of our students from instrumental music share a song about kindness on their clarinets. We hope students will remember what we saw with the "Kindness Challenge" and will find ways to be kind in their daily experiences. Our Fifth Grade students from The Leader in Me Mastery Class are so proud that they are now leading some of our morning meetings in the Kindergarten classrooms! They created obstacle courses and even developed questions for the Kindergarten students to answer.
Our Peaceful Dismissal has been such a wonderful additio to the school day. We even had Chief Wagner co-host with Ms. Zeleny. It was so special to hear him share our Rocket Shout-Outs and send him off in such a special way. It was so nice to see the outpouring of support the staff and students shared with him. He will be missed!
We look forward to our students leading this Peaceful Dismissal in the coming weeks. We are so proud of the leadership taking place throughout the building and the eagerness the students have displayed in doing so. This week is also National School Counselors Week and we want to acknowledge and thank Mr. McCabe for being such a wonderful resource to our entire learning community. He goes above and beyond to support our students daily.
Report Cards will be available today on Genesis please review to celebrate your child's accomplishments and help them continue to set goals for themselves as learners. Teachers provided meaningful feedback in their comments and are eager to share your child's progress with you. We have our Friendship Parties coming up on February 14th. We look forward to all that is in store in the coming weeks!
