Eyes On: Julie Buffalohead will showcase new work by the Minnesota-based artist, who is a citizen of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma. Buffalohead uses metaphors, iconography, and storytelling narratives in her artwork to describe emotional and subversive American Indian cultural experiences, and often analyzes the commercialization of American Indian cultures.
Buffalohead frequently includes animals as subjects, and her eclectic palette and whimsical subjects evoke a childlike innocence. While she works in a variety of mediums, including painting, printmaking, drawing, illustration, bookmaking, and sculpture, this exhibition will feature a new series of works on canvas that explore her own life experiences, as well as ancestral knowledge.
Thru May 19 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Art Museum | Gen. Adm.
See how animals have captivated artists throughout history in Stampede: Animals in Art. This cross-departmental exhibition brings together more than 300 objects from the Denver Art Museum’s collection to explore the presence of animals in art throughout centuries and across cultures.
Stampede creates an opportunity for visitors to discover and consider the role animals play through themes such as personal connections with animals, how animal materials have been used in art, how animals are used to tell stories or represent political ideas, and how artists use animals in imaginative ways. It includes visitor favorites such as a four-faced Hamat'sa Mask, Deborah Butterfield’s horse sculptures, artworks by Frederic Remington and Georgia O’Keeffe, as well as rarely seen works.

Comedy at its Rawest
Enjoy comedy the way it's intended. No holds barred, no punches pulled, and no f**ks given. Watch seasoned pros and future stars battle each other for supremacy. Good sets will be awarded, bad sets will be punished. Feelings will be hurt, fun will be had.
Hosted by Greg Baumhauer and Mike Stanley. Baumhauer named the “Dark Prince of Colfax” by the Westword is who is known for running the raucous and raunchy Squire Lounge Comedy Night, dubbed the "meanest mic in America", helped cultivate the careers of some of Denver's most accomplished comedians, and ended others before they started. A fifteen year veteran in the Denver comedy scene, and winner of the 2007 New Talent Contest, Greg returns to doing what he does best-making fun of new comedians.
Greg's co-host Mike Stanley the host of Food Network's Food: Fact Or Fiction, was named "Best Chicago Stand-up Comedian" in a Peoples Choice poll done by the Chicago Reader and "Best Detroit Comedian" by HOUR Magazine. Another fifteen year comedy veteran, Mike tours internationally and has performed at several festivals including the Oddball Comedy Festival, and TBS Just For Laughs Festival. Insightful, crass and just plain hilarious, Mike has recently moved to the Mile High City and we couldn't be happier to have him.
Comedy is at its best when it isn't scared to tell the truth. So let's stop pretending that the world is nice and fair, and help us celebrate each other by pointing out our differences and similarities that make us all amazing and utterly stupid.

Makeshift Shakespeare
pays homage to the Bard himself! The absurdity of Shakespeare’s comedies, the misfortune of his tragedies, and the yesteryears of his histories are all performed in a nightly original production by these brainy improvisers. Denver has never seen anything quite like it! “All-male, all-Shakespeare, all the time,” says director Shannon Wood Rothenberg. Theater-goers will find their intellects heartily entertained and their wit vigorously stimulated by the unlimited possibilities of improvisation coupled with the richness of William Shakespeare’s legacy.

Denver, Colorado’s critically acclaimed comedy show, live on stage!
The Jester’s Court presents Denver with live entertainment unlike anything you’ve seen before! Don’t bring the whole family, leave the kids at home, and go out with adults for a night of drinks and uncensored live comedy! The stakes are high, the steaks are expensive, and the drinks are reasonably priced. Also, they don’t serve steak at this comedy club.
This show features guest comedians from across the country, and is based entirely off audience suggestions! Sit near the front and you might get pulled up on stage. Don’t sit near the front and we’ll probably still find ways to mess with you – no one is safe! Prizes, The Jester’s unconditional love, and frequently, nothing – will be given for audience participation. For the best night of live comedy you’ve ever experienced, check out The Jester’s Court – Denver, Colorado’s #1 improv comedy show.

Shock and Awe Sketch Show is a dark and absurd sketch comedy show that blends live performance with the digital audio/visual arts into a high energy production that is formulated to stimulate your laugh receptors. Best shared with friends!!
We are not your grandmother’s sketch show–unless your grandmother is especially odd. Our style leans toward the dark and the absurd and not especially political or topical (not because we’re afraid of it, but because we already have a lot going on in the sketches). Our influences are broad, but think less like SNL and more like Mr Show. Think less like All That and more like Wonder Showzen. Less Carol Burnett and more Firesign Theater. Imagine something less like the average street performer and more like a dead mime with magical unicorn powers.

The only thing this group loves more than improvising scenes is making fun of each other in these hilarious scenes! Pro Play takes an audience suggestion and runs with that to improvise scenes. Always a crowd pleaser, Pro Play features some of Denver’s most talented improvisors.

Performing original compositions and lyrical songs spanning multiple genres including jazz, rock, gypsy, klezmer and funk.
The music of Liebermonster is at once schizophrenic and cohesive–a seemless integration of the essential elements of rock, jazz, funk, world music and jam. In a live setting, the band draws its listeners in with a huge dynamic range of sound, powerful solos, and intriguing changes.
The daunting task of tying together the different elements of Liebermonster’s sound rests squarely on the shoulders of a rock-solid rhythm section with Jim Copeland on drums and Alex Albu on bass. Heading up the crew with an endless well of musical ideas is guitarist/vocalist Shane Lieberman, accompanied by the reckless wailing of long-time bandmate Seth Garland on tenor saxophone. Rounding out Colorado’s best horn duo is multi-instrumentalist Chris White on trombone.
Liebermonster’s status as a “hidden gem” is changing quickly as it continues to add to an impressive resume of shows with acts like Soulive, Orgone, The New Mastersounds, The Funky Meters, Rebirth Brass Band, George Porter Jr., Kyle Hollingsworth, and more.

New York-based vocalist Kendra Shank returns to Dazzle for the first time since 2008 for a long-awaited collaboration with Grammy-nominated Boulder pianist Art Lande, joined by guitarist Tim Wendel. The trio’s in-the-moment conversational interplay will draw from a broad range of material: re-imagined standards, originals, open improvisations, a folk song, and compositions by Abbey Lincoln, Fred Hersch and other modern composers. Kendra and Art have known each other for many years and their brief musical encounters in New York gave them the desire for this deeper collaboration at Dazzle. Art and Tim are frequent collaborators and Kendra, whom The New Yorker describes as “imaginative and daring” thrives on the freshness of new musical connections. “A wide open, mind-bending celebration of the human spirit.” –Toledo Blade

You've just been promoted to "manager" — now what?
Getting promoted is a heady experience ... until reality sets in, and you realize you're not quite sure exactly what's expected of you in your new position. You're not alone: Many first-time managers find themselves stepping into their positions feeling apprehensive and ill-prepared. Why? Because it's a lot easier to be a follower than a leader. The skills and talents that made you a valued team player won't necessarily make you a great manager or supervisor.
It's for people like you that this seminar was created
This powerful management and leadership training will make your transition smoother and more successful. You'll use what you learn right away. If a tough problem comes up, you'll know how to handle it. When you're faced with a crisis, you'll react with confidence. You'll be better equipped to keep your people motivated, productive, and on target.
Sep 26 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm | Holiday Inn East - Cherry Creek
Learn the skills rated "most critical" by veteran team leaders
This seminar gets right down to business. It's a "here's what to do — and the best way to do it" crash course for new team leaders.
We designed this seminar with input from veteran team leaders at organizations across the country. You'll explore the issues they believed were most critical in their own team development.
Critical skills like these …
- Getting off on the right foot with a new team
- Making sure team meetings are worthwhile — and not just time-wasting get-togethers
- Understanding the leader's role when conflicts erupt or there's infighting on your team
- Knowing how to invest your time and effort for the biggest payback
- Keeping your team members focused and enthused — especially in the early stages when everything is confusing
Their input was just what we hoped for: refreshingly honest. Revealing. Insightful. Even surprising at times.

is a major chain with more than 30 breweries that produce 700 different craft beers that have won over 125 medals. But their brewery in Denver is the "mother ship," the first brewery of the chain when it opened in 1990. Rock Bottom has one of the best locations on the 16th Street Mall, Denver's mile-long pedestrian promenade. There are 41 outdoor patios along the Mall, but the one at Rock Bottom is the largest and one of the most popular. On summer weekends, bands play and hundreds of people gather to sip craft beer on the patio under twinkling lights, as horse-drawn carriages clatter by. The interior of the massive bar is built around towering glass windows displaying the brewing equipment. It can be noisy, crowded and fun, as the bar brings in an attractive crowd of young downtown office workers. For a quieter experience, head to the back bar, which has pool tables and a staff that's both knowledgeable and passionate about craft beer. Rock Bottom features the standard IPAs, Red Ale, White Ale, Dark Ale and a Winter Tartan Ale, as well as the always popular Molly's Titanic Brown Ale. The brewmaster at each pub creates specials, so check what's on the current beer list, and especially look for the hand-pulled cask-conditioned ales in the back room.
ETUK Drink RINO Craft Brewery Crawl

Denver Beer Company
Denver Beer Company
is one of the city's favorite tap rooms — a place that really captures the laid-back feeling of The Mile High City. Located in a former auto garage, on warm days the "walls" of the pub literally roll up, making the whole building open air. There's an outdoor patio with picnic tables next to a space where different food trucks park every day.
Ale House at Amato's
After crossing the bridge, you've entered LoHi, one of Denver's hippest and fastest-growing neighborhoods.
Ale House at Amato's
is a great introduction to this section of town. Although no beer is brewed here, the restaurant is owned jointly by Wynkoop and Breckenridge breweries and features 40-plus craft beers on tap, including several rare and hard-to-find Colorado microbrews. The staff is beer savvy and will work with you to find the perfect selection, whether it's light, hoppy, malty or complex (and your beer, of course, will be poured into the appropriate style of glass). The entire roof of the bar is an open-air beer garden with outdoor fireplaces and sweeping views of Downtown Denver. It's especially pretty at twilight when the sun sets over the visible Rocky Mountains to the west.
Prost Brewing
As you would suspect, with a name like
Prost
, this brewery specializes in traditional German beers, and they do everything traditionally, from serving the beer in appropriate German beer glasses to making it in authentic 72.5-barrel copper kettles from Germany. The kettles were made in 1963 and used until a few years ago by a 350-year-old brewery in Germany. When that brewery went out of business, the kettles were purchased and lovingly shipped to Denver, where they continue to make Weißbier (a Bavarian Hefeweizen), Altfränkisches Dunkel Bier (a dark amber lager) and Marzen (an Oktoberfest brew). The flagship beer is Prost Pils, a crisp, pale and well-hopped, gold-colored brew capped with a dense white collar of foam. It's served in a tapered glass with a gold rim that will have you crying, "Prost!" The Prost beer hall is decorated with authentic antique German beer signs and blue-and-white-check Oktoberfest bunting and is filled with long communal tables. Have a liter of beer, bite into an authentic German pretzel and meet new friends in this LoHi neighborhood tap room.
Mile High Tap Tours
Sit back as a 12-passenger van drives you and your friends along South Broadway and Santa Fe Drive on a four-hour tour to three breweries. Mile High Tap Tours currently partners with
Breckenridge Brewery
, The Brew on Broadway, Saint Patrick's Brewing Company, Dead Hippie Brewing, Locavore Beer Works and 38 State Brewing Company.
Avanti F & B
If all this walking has worked up an appetite, end your night with dinner (and another beer) at
Avanti F & B
, one of Denver's most popular new spots for foodies. Inspired by European markets and food-truck roundups, Avanti bills itself as a modern-day food hall, offering up seven different restaurant concepts under one roof. Grab a mushroom pizza at Brava! Pizzeria, a noodle bowl from MiJo or a chicken meatball torta at Poco Torteria. There are also two large bars — one upstairs and one downstairs — with twenty draft beers on tap, many from local breweries like Prost Brewing, Platt Park Brewing, Crooked Stave and Ratio Beerworks.
Breckenridge Brewery
Take a tour of the bucolic new
Breckenridge Brewery
facility in
Littleton
. You'll walk through the whole brewing process and see from start to finish how Breck Brew gets the beer to your bottle. Everything from the 100-barrel brewhouse, to the fermentation hall, to the bottling line...and all with a complimentary beer in your hand! You'll taste and talk about the company's different beers and how they're made. Tours cost $3 and begin and end in the tasting room. We recommend grabbing a meal at the excellent
Farm House Restaurant
while you're there.
New Belgium Brewing Company
New Belgium Brewing Company
in Fort Collins
is one of Colorado's first microbrewery success stories. Since its founding in 1991, New Belgium — best known for its iconic Fat Tire Amber Ale — has grown into one of the biggest microbreweries in the world, producing more than 400,000 barrels of beer annually.
Avery Brewing Company
One of Boulder's most beloved brewers,
Avery Brewing Company
is rapidly making headway on the national beer scene. Last year the company moved into a new $27 million "dream brewery" in north Boulder, upping both their brewing capacity and tap room seating.
Boulder Beer Company
Boulder Beer Company, Colorado's first craft brewery, is beloved by beer connoisseurs for its Hazed Hoppy Session Ale and by environmentalists for its eco-friendly ethos.
Visit the home of Budweiser at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Fort Collins and discover how the "King of Beers" crafts its world-famous brews.
Upslope Brewing Company
Boulder's Upslope Brewing taps into Colorado's active lifestyle by offering superior-quality handcrafted ales in cans for the on-the-go beer enthusiast. The brewery has won raves for its IPA and Brown Ale, but we also love their creative limited-release brews, like the Blood Orange Saison and the Thai Style White IPA.
Tour Info: Upslope offers tours at both locations. Flatiron Park Tap Room: Thurs., Sat. and Sun. at 3 p.m., Lee Hill Tap Room: Fri. and Sat. at 4 p.m.
Oskar Blues Brewery
Oskar Blues kicked off the canned craft beer revolution in 2002 with their Dale's Pale Ale. Why cans instead of bottles? For one thing, cans keep beer fresh by protecting it from light and oxygen. Drop into either the brewery's Homemade Liquids and Solids restaurant/brewery/music venue (home of the aforementioned oversized beer can) or the nearby Tasty Weasel brewing facility for a Dale's or an Old Chub Scotch Ale.
Tour Info: The Tasty Weasel offers free tours Mon.–Fri. at 4 p.m. and Sat.–Sun. at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Left Hand Brewing CO.
Located on the banks of Longmont's St. Vrain River, the patio is perfect for relaxation and beer appreciation. Since its founding in 1993, Left Hand's brews, including its iconic Milk Stout and Sawtooth Ale, have wowed beer connoisseurs, racking up dozens of medals at events like the Great American Beer Festival, the United States Beer Tasting Championships, the Brussels Beer Challenge, the World Beer Cup, the International Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival and more.
dweiser Clydesdales and sample a cold one in the Hospitality Room.
With more than 25 years of brewing experience under its belt, Odell brews everything from handcrafted classics to small-batch beers that please even the snootiest of beer snobs. Be sure to try Odell's 90 Shilling Ale and the Cutthroat Porter, then sample from a rotating line of experimental brews, many of which are available exclusively in the Tap Room.
Tour Info: D aily at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tours last about 30 minutes and can be reserved in advance.
Fort Collins Brewery
Just steps from the Cache Le Poudre River, Fort Collins Brewery turns out favorites like Far Away IPA, Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat and Shot Down Chocolate Stout. This local gem isn't quite as big as Odell and New Belgium — not yet anyway!
