Change a Life - Mentor a Student
"My mentors have helped me build skills... and have pushed me to work hard and stay focused."  - Daniela, 12th grader at Sickles High

January was National Mentoring Month - Thank you to all our dedicated mentors, YOU ARE making a difference!

Take Stock in Children pairs at-risk students with caring, responsible adults who will provide emotional support and foster a positive self-image. Currently,
one-third of our nation's young people are growing up without a mentor to offer
real-life guidance. For students who face various risk factors, not having a positive role model could lead to them becoming disconnected from school and work.

Interested in becoming a mentor?  Click here  to view the areas of the county where we need mentors the most. Could be right near your job or home!

Just one hour of your time per week can make a LIFETIME of difference! To get matched with a student for the 2018-2019 school year, contact Anna Laird at   [email protected]   or (813)463-4283.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Marnevich was a science teacher at my high school. He was always inspiring me with his excellent character. Whether through his role leading students in Student Christian Association, student government, coaching athletics, or in classroom academics, he made it a point to connect with every student.

What was your first job?
My first position was at a Chartered Accountants firm in Cape Town South Africa, where I completed 5 years of Articles Training, beginning as a Junior Clerk and ending as Audit Manager.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Being in more than one place at a time.

What was your most memorable vacation?
Akumal, Mexico where my family and I saw baby turtles hatch on the beach and giant whale sharks. We even discovered coral reefs when we earned our diver certifications there.
