34th Basic Dispatch Academy graduates on July 31
In a first for DEC, the graduation for the three graduates of the 34th BDA was held in the DEC conference room, rather than the Police Academy. Mayor Stoney and CAO Reid spoke to the graduates and others attended via teleconferencing.

DEC employee nominated for heroism award
When Emergency Communications Officer Tasharnda Gainey came up an accident on July 24 on Jefferson
Davis Highway, she stopped and attempted to save the life of a pedestrian struck by a car. Because of her actions, her platoon has nominated her for a heroism award.

August 50/50 Raffle
To raise funds for future National Telecommunicator Week celebrations, the Pride Committee will be selling 50/50 Raffle tickets, Aug. 1-31. The Raffles will be planned quarterly.

Two new Technology Division employees
 DEC's Technology Division welcomed two new employees in July: Roman Gibbons and Patrick Trimble.
