Remember to Turn in Your Big Give Envelopes Next Week!
THANK YOU to all our families that have already sent back your Big Give envelopes.  We are hoping EVERY student returns his/her envelope to our PTA volunteers located at drop off areas before school each morning.

A class prize is available for the class that turns in the highest percentage of envelopes! We have ONE week left in our Big Give fundraiser and we have raised $30,000 for our students and teachers so far! Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and we thank all our families that have contributed.

If you have friends or family who have donated to our Walkathon in the past, they can help again this year with a gift to our Big Give fundraiser.  A "non-parent" donation link is available on our website for you to share.  Learn more about where our fundraising dollars are spent. T he Big Give envelope drive continues until the Walkathon on 9/28 when we will celebrate our success and enjoy this fun family event.

WSPTA in Action
Did you know that our PTA is affiliated with Washington State PTA and National PTA? The vision of WSPTA is that every child's potential becomes a reality. Two primary ways we work to achieve that vision are through grassroots advocacy and legislative action.

This October, WSPTA will host its annual legislative assembly, where the membership in attendance will learn about and vote on 12 legislative issues and 5 long-term resolutions that have been submitted from across the state. Members will also vote on the top 5 priorities for the 2019 session. Learn about the issues from the previous 2-year cycle.

If you want to learn more about how to put your PTA membership in action, please contact Amy Ulrich

Staff Spotlight
Maestra Dahlman
Please welcome Maestra Stephanie Dahlman to our Puesta del Sol family! Our new addition to the kindergarten team has an impressive 27 year history in teaching. Bravo Sra. Dahlman!! She majored in Spanish in college and studied abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico. She has 2 children. Elena is in the 2nd grade here at Puesta del Sol, how exciting!! She also has a 17 year old son who lives in Portland.

When Maestra Dahlman is not at school she may be reading or doing Taiko while sipping a coffee. I think she will fit in quite well with our coffee drinking kindergarten team, don't you?  She is also a huge basketball fan. Next time you run into her, ask her who she roots for.  Maybe the Trailblazers?

Scholastic Book Fair
Sept. 24 - 28
Visit the Book Fair in the Library to pick out new books in English and Spanish! There are a lot of quality books at great prices AND the proceeds help our teachers and librarians add books to enrich and update their classroom and school libraries.

Please volunteer to help us make the fair run more smoothly.
