Dear Alumni & Friends,
At Lawrence Academy's annual Founders' Day assembly last Friday, we celebrated LA’s 225-year heritage and recognized outstanding service to LA and to the world.
For her exemplary dedication and service, Susan Meenan Barron ’86 was recognized with the
Founders’ Award for Service to Lawrence Academy.
Sue has been a champion Class Agent, a dynamic president of the Alumni Council, an active LA parent, and a steward of all things LA. She is married to an LA grad - Dev '85. (They started dating on a Winterim in 1985!) And their two children (Thomas '14, Annie '17) attended LA.
Sue inspires us all!
Other awards at Founders' Day were the
Kathy Peabody Memorial Book Award, which went to Pat Stark who supports LA students through her work in the business office, and the Greater Good Award, which went to students Adrian Castanon Galicia '19, Faris Khimani '19, Fred Lian '20, Kambar Mangibayev '19, and Dafi Siregar '19 who were recognized for their work this past summer in Mexico, with a reforestation project, and in Indonesia, with a massive beach clean-up.
At LA, we use the strength of and connections to our past to look to the challenges of the future and consider what our students need to be successful in the world today. One of our top priorities continues to be to prepare our LA students for college and beyond.
To get a glimpse into the college process of today, I met with LA college counselors, Sean Sheehan ’87, and Kim Bohlin Healy. The process can be stressful on both our students and their parents, and Sean and Kim were able to share some insights into the challenges.
