Sing Peace Around the World...

And sing we did...Today we celebrated International Peace Day with our annual assembly during which we sang together, listened as students read  aloud from  The Peace Book by Todd Parr, and organized ourselves into an all-school Peace Walk. We were joined by Laura W.'s twins, which was an extra special treat! After the Peace Walk, our students returned to their classrooms for some other group activities. With our daily curricular focus on the  Montessori  concepts of Grace, Courtesy, and Respect, this day is an important one here. It provides a great opportunity for us to dive deeper into the meaning and importance of peace in our individual lives, our school, and the world. This year, we added one new component into our celebration, a all-school project which will hang in our lobby. Inspired by the words 'When you close our eyes and think of peace, what do you see?' students were asked to write their thoughts on sticky notes stay tuned for the result of this collaborative effort...and a special thanks to Ms. Kristin L for putting it all together.

Looking  forward  to seeing you all on Sunday at our 3rd Annual Family Fun Run & Road Race. Music, Warm Up led by Ms. Alyssa, Lawn Games, Obstacle Course, Crafts, Face Painting, Balloons, Free Food and a Race Day T-shirt are all included.
What better way to spend this beautiful Sunday, than together celebrating and supporting our school?!

Last week we kicked off our 2018/19  Food Drive for the MFCS Food Pantry, established to help support MFCS families who are experiencing food insecurity. We can't thank  you enough for your many generous donations. The Drive will got on all year long. Your donations, in combination with our partnership with the NH Food Bank, enables us to send meals home with those children in need at least 3 times per week

To learn more about the program, how you can help, or how you can access the Pantry for your family, please reach out to Susanne. To view the flyer describing our donation needs,  please click here.

Please remember to save the date for next month's Bring a Parent to School Night on October 11th. It's one of the most important nights of the year! On that evening, you will play the role of student, as your child/children lead you through a mini Montessori work cycle. There will be plenty of 'ah-ha!' moments for you as you come to understand aspects of the unique Montessori approach, which you have chosen for your child/children. Our Fall Book Fair will also be in session that evening.

October will be here before we know it, and with it will come Pizza Fridays and the start of our weekly Friday  Read Ins. Last week we shared the general Read In Schedule, and we will also note them  under  the 'Important Dates' section of this newsletter. Glacier and Everglades families, you are the first up on October 5th from 8:15-8:45am!

Please keep those  Count Me In f orms coming! It is tremendously helpful to
know more about you and how you'd like to lend a hand to support our school, staff and students. If you haven't had the chance to fill out the form yet, please click here to download it and then please return it to school.

 Hannaford Helps

Hannaford continues to help us raise funds via their Hannaford Helps Program. All collected school dollars, must be turned in to the Hannaford store on Hanover Street in Manchester, or you can drop your receipts here and we will drop them off for you.  This       program will run until December 1st.

This is an easy way for Mill Falls Families & Friends to help support for our School! If you have any questions or want to know more about this program, please click  here .

For The Remainder of the Month...

The Hannaford Supermarket located on Hanover St. has chosen  Mill Falls Food Pantry as a beneficiary of the

Hannaford Helps Fresh Cookbook Fundraiser!

This means for the remainder month of  September, every time the
Fight Hunger reusable bag is purchased at the  Hanover St. Hannaford,
the  food pantry receives $1.

AND if you purchase a  fresh Cookbook  at the same Hannafords location, it will generate a  $5 donation  for the food pantry!

Let the small group lessons and work cycles begin!

Today our Upper Elementary Students participated in their first Science Lab. The Lab was entitled,  Can You Save Fred . Students split into small groups to solve this problem...Fred (a gummy worm) was happily sailing across the Great Lakes, when suddenly his boat capsized. Luckily, he has a life preserver (a candy life saver) on board, but unfortunately, it is trapped underneath the boat (a cup). And the worst part is that Fred doesn't know how to swim. How will he get is life preserver? The students were provided with Fred, the life saver, a cup and 2 paper clips.

The lab was intended to practice the lesson from last week, during which the students explored the Scientific Method.

Have a GREAT weekend... Hope to see everyone on Sunday!
