PASTOR OF STUDENT MINISTRIES RECEPTION
TONIGHT | 6:00 TO 8:00 PM | STUDENT AREA

Great news! The Pastor of Student Ministries Search Team and Church Council have unanimously nominated a candidate for presentation to the church for congregational approval "in view of a call."

Corey Gummelt will be presented to the church during the worship services on February 10. During the services, there will be a special called church member vote to approve Corey as VRBC's new Pastor of Student Ministries.

Corey is a 2013 graduate of East Texas Baptist University. He obtained his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Dallas Baptist University in 2017. Corey comes to us from Parkway Hills Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, where he has served as the Student Pastor for the past five years. Corey and wife, Tenley, have been married for more than five years. Tenley is on staff at Trinity Christian Academy as a counselor. In his spare time, Corey enjoys playing sports (a big fan of Baylor athletics), biking, traveling, hosting game nights, and spending time with his wife and two dogs.

A reception is being held TONIGHT, Wednesday, February 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm upstairs in the student area to allow the church to meet Corey and Tenley in advance of the February 10 vote in the worship services. Please join us!

JOURNEY WITH JESUS
CONTINUES THIS SUNDAY

A few weeks ago , we launched "Journey With Jesus"--a 12-week exploration of the gospel of Mark. In our worship services over the next several weeks, we'll be going through the book of Mark together, and in our Grow Groups, we'll talk about how these texts impact our daily lives. We'll also follow a personal reading plan together that will take us through the entire gospel of Mark, as well as a devotional book based on Mark written by our very own senior pastor, Dr. Larry Parsley.

The best way to be a part of the Journey with Jesus is to sign up for a spring Grow Group at vrbc.net/grow. And here's some fun news . . . every person who signs up for a spring Grow Group will receive a copy of Larry's book absolutely free! (Note: This has been made possible by several generous donors and Larry will not be receiving any royalties from these books.)

For more information, check out the "Journey With Jesus" video by clicking the logo to the right. We invite you to journey with us!
MISSIONARY SPOTLIGHT:

JIM MUSTAIN

In June 2014, after more than three decades of successful ministry, nine years at Valley Ranch Baptist Church, Jim and Sharon Mustain became the founders of Loving Community, a Texas, faith-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Loving Community, a church without walls, seeks to faithfully live out the mission of being good neighbors by connecting people into relationships and serving the needs of the community. Based in their townhome neighborhood in Lewisville, Jim and Sharon are practitioners of a holistic model of life and ministry, living out the Jesus model, "The Word (Jesus) became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood." --John 1:14, The Message

Their daily rhythms are rooted in their community. They build relationships by hosting missional community groups, discipleship huddles, and seeker discussions. They lead teams of neighborhood, business, and church volunteers to serve in schools, senior adult homes, and other ministry venues. Jim provides community pastoral counseling and officiates at weddings and funerals, typically for those who are not members of any church. He also consults with churches, helping them imagine a missional posture.

Their prayer is that of the missionary Paul: "So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much - but well." Philippians 1:9.  To watch a short video about the Mustains and Loving Community,   CLICK HERE .
