In and around the classrooms
DNA Exploration
7th grade general science students explore the wonders of DNA with hands-on experiments. In the picture to the right, students extract DNA from split peas, observing what real DNA looks like. Below, students work together to build an oversize model of human DNA.
Tracking Time
3rd grade science students created sun dials. An overcast sky could not stop them from trying them out; students used flashlights to imitate the sun rays and read their clocks' times.
Focus on Friendship
Science and math teacher, Mrs. Smith, tells a story about her "walky-talky" relationship in a secondary connection assembly presentation about friendship.
Time marches on
...and 5th grade history teacher, Miss Harvey, records as many march steps as possible on her ancient history timeline.
Feed the Birds
2nd graders continue their animal study with a unit on birds. Students learned that birds need fat in their diet and made suet feeders to hang at home and in the school yard to observe our feathered friends!
