News from Mrs. Schwarz, School Counselor

Part of a school's role is to educate our students on how to solve conflicts. We start by teaching the difference between small problems and big problems. Small problems are problems that they can solve and are not emotionally or physically dangerous. Students learn if that it involves safety, then it is a big problem, and they should report it to the nearest safe adult.

Students are taught ways to solve those small problems and that they may need to try more than one way prior to seeking adult support.  Some of the ways to solve social conflicts are verbal and nonverbal. Examples are telling someone to stop, talk it out, wait and cool off, ignore, move to another place or game.

Conflicts happen at school and at home. If we work together, we can create a community of not only academic problem solvers, but also of social problem solvers.

Jump Rope for Heart
Wednesday, February 13

Thank you for all of those that have registered and donated to the Jump Rope for Heart event. If you haven't registered your child yet, please do so by  clicking here.

Registration is required for your child to participate in the event and no donation is necessary to register. You also received a permission slip in the envelope that was sent home in your child's Friday folder on January 18th. This is a buddy event, and we would like 100% participation! It is a wonderful opportunity for the older students to mentor their buddies and for all of them to exercise and makes their hearts stronger!

Thank you very much for your generosity toward this cause.

We will accept cash and checks only during school days. At conferences, we will also accept credit/debit cards.
