City Centre Public Design Reveal Event - Join us at the Westland Mall, located at 35000 Warren Rd. on Saturday, November 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a public presentation and design reveal of the ideas generated throughout the three days of visioning sessions.  The basis for the action plan will be presented and refreshments will be served.  The event will take place in the center of the mall, outside of the store "Windsor."   Those interested in obtaining information or providing ideas can e-mail their comments directly to Westland's Director of Economic Development, Charles House, at [email protected]

 Inspire Theater Presents: ADDAMS FAMILY: The Musical - It's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:

City Council
  • There will be a study session on Monday, November 5 regarding the City's MERS defined benefit plan and OPEB health care plan at 5:30 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd. 
  • The regular meeting of the city council will meet on Monday, November 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.  
Planning Commission 
  • The Planning Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.  
City Offices Closed for General Election - Tuesday, November 6  is the very important day when we have the chance to cast our vote in the General Election.  All city offices will be closed, including the 18th District Court.  Trash and Recycling pick up will not be affected. If you are unsure about the location of your voting precinct or would like to view your ballot before going to the polls, you can do so at www.cityofwestland.com.  Your vote is your voice, so be sure to make yourself heard in this historical presidential election.  

Family Resource Center Buffet Lunch Fundraiser - On Thursday, November 8 there will be a Buffet Lunch at the William D. Ford Career Technical Center, located at 36455 Marquette Rd.  The event will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the cost is a minimum donation of $10/person.  Proceeds will be used to assist students in need attending Wayne Westland Community Schools through their Family Resource Center.

Veterans Day -    Veterans Day is Sunday, November 11.  That is the day that has been set aside since 1919 as a day to honor and pay respect to veterans who served in our armed forces.    On Veterans Day, the Westland Veterans Association will hold a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Garden.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend as residents, government officials, and most importantly, America's Veterans and their families gather to commemorate the occasion.  The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Garden behind the Westland Library, located at 6123 Central City Parkway.  
 
City Offices Closed in Observance of Veterans Day -  In observance of the federal holiday, all city offices, including the 18th District Court will be closed on Monday, November 12.  Trash and recycling pickup will not be affected.  Once again, the  Wayne-Ford Civic League will be partnering with local elected officials to ensure veterans in need and active duty families have a proper holiday meal.  If you know a Westland Veteran, have them call the Mayor's Office to register for their meal. Meals will be dispersed Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Wayne Ford Civic League. Those looking to participate must register by Thursday, November 14.  Participants can choose between Turkey (16-20 lb) or Ham (10-12 lb) and all meals will include stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, and heat & serve rolls for a family of 6-8 people.
