Hike Inn Evening Program &
Old-Growth Forest Hike with Jess Riddle
February 6th-7th, 2019

Join us for a great time at the Len Foote Hike Inn!

Presenter and Hike Leader:  Forest Ecologist Jess Riddle

Outing Description:   On February 6th, Forest Ecologist Jess Riddle will be giving  an after-dinner program  at the  Len Foote Hike Inn
focused on Georgia's old-growth forests. On the morning of the 7th, he will lead an old-growth forest hike along the Hike Inn Trail from the Inn to the parking lot at Amicalola Falls State Park. This trail is
among the most popular mountain trails in Georgia. As an added bonus, participants can receive up to 50% off their reservation at the Inn!

Meeting Time, Place and Directions:   Once you've booked your reservation with the Inn, you are free to arrive at your leisure, as Jess's program will not begin until after dinner on the 6th. The old-growth forest hike will begin after all have had breakfast and checked out of their rooms the following morning on the 7th. To get to the trail head for the Hike Inn Trail, arrive at Amicalola Falls State Park, 280 Amicalola Falls State Park Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534 and check in at the Visitors Center. There they will give you a map and guide you to the trail head parking lot.

Distance and Difficulty:  Everyone who visits the Hike Inn starts at the same point; it is a five-mile hike from the top of Amicalola Falls to the front porch of the Hike Inn. The easy-to-moderate trail takes between two and four hours to complete, crossing small streams, traversing mild ridges and ambling past the hickory, pine and oak trees of North Georgia.

What to Bring and Wear:  Plenty of water, warm clothing, rain gear, sturdy footwear, and a light overnight pack. Bring some trail snacks if you wish! If allergic to bees/wasps, remember to bring your meds/epi-pen.

Cancellation/Rain Date:  Upon making your reservation with the Inn, they will provide you with cancellation information. Jess will be giving the presentation and leading the hike rain or shine.

Pet Policy:   No pets please.
