On Friday, February 8th at our PBIS Assembly we launched our CANstruction competition to support the Hunger Task Force's My Plate initiative. Here is a brief message that was shared from our Student Council:
Student Council is hosting CANstruction. This is the first time we've ever done something like this. It's a different twist to a food drive in which donations will be split among student teams, where they will have to make a picture, or some other sculpture, out of cans and other donated food items. All food after the competition will be donated to Hunger Task Force. Creations will be judged, and part of the prize for the winning team will be to visit Hunger Task Force for a tour and see the next steps in the donation process.
We need plenty of non-perishable food donations to come in.
Feb 11th - 22nd: Two weeks to collect non-perishable food items
Feb 11th: Student teams can apply to enter the competition (10 teams max, 2-4 students per team....first come, first serve)
Feb 25-28: Student teams build their sculptures during Advisory
Friday, March 1st: Judging takes place
We would like to follow Hunger Task Force's MyPlate initiative for donations, so we really need:
* Canned Fruit (100% juice)
* Low to no sugar cereal (Cheerios, Chex, etc.)
* Peanut Butter
But all non-perishable items will be accepted. We need plenty of canned items!
