TASC Leads Joint Effort for Full Page Ad in Wall Street Journal
TASC lead the effort in publishing a letter in the Wall Street Journal urging American politicians to reconsider its current economic impasse. The letter was co-signed by nine other Turkish American organizations.

TASC Remembers U.S. and Turkish Soldiers in Korean War
On August 3, the anniversary of the end of the Korean War, TASC remembers the heroic efforts of the Turkish Brigade. The Turkish Brigade ( Şimal Yıldızı)  was a Turkish Army Infantry that fought alongside American troops during the Korean War.

TASC Stands in Solidarity with Colorado Springs and Law Enforcement Communities.
On August 9, Officer Cem Düzel, a Turkish American police officer, was shot in the line of duty while responding to a call in the Colorado Springs downtown area.

August 26 marked the 947th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert, and the 96th anniversary of the Battle of Dumlupinar.

New York City
August 5: TASC New York participated in the culture festival parade organized by the city of Brooklyn.
August 31: The Arab Muslim American Federation invited TASC Co-Chair Dr. Halil Mutlu and Board Member Nevin Bakir as honored guests to a reception in New York. We thank Dr. Khaled Lamada, Chair of the Federation, for his invitation and for the chance to build bridges in our communities.
Washington, DC
August 17: Members of TASC and the Turkish Coalition of America met with students from the Olive Tree Initiative, an initiative that fosters global engagement and understanding for better conflict resolution. The topic of conversation was the Armenian diaspora and current Turkish-American relations.





August 21: TASC attended the joint Global Policy Institute and BAU International University panel discussing US and Turkey Current Relations. Panelists included Howard Beasey, President and CEO, American-Turkish Council (ATC); Khush Choksy, Senior Vice President, Middle East and Turkey Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; and Selman Kurt, Commercial Counselor, Embassy of the Republic of Turkey.

The panelists gave an excellent perspective to current U.S. and Turkish relations, and highlighted the mutual interest both countries have in maintaining and developing U.S. and Turkey's relationship. They expressed hope that diplomatic resolutions can be made within the near future.
August 30: TASC Co-Chair Gunay Evinch and Secretary Oya Bain attended the Victory Day celebrations at the Turkish Embassy In Washington DC hosted by the Ambassador and Defense Attache Brigadier General Umut Yildiz and their respective spouses.
Connecticut
August 21: TASC Co-Chair Dr. Halil Mutlu and members of the Turkish community met with Ms. Toni Harp, Mayor of New Haven, Connecticut and thanked her for her contributions to the needs and concerns of the Turkish community in and around New Haven. Dr. Mutlu commended the Mayor for supporting the TASC vision of “solidarity in diversity."

Early September 2018: TASC and the Maryland - Kocaeli Sister State Program leads a delegation of five Maryland private university presidents visit to meet with Turkish private university leaderships in Istanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa to discuss student and professor exchange programs, and cooperation in the business of higher education.
