HYDE PARK, NY -- The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum has announced a new Library Trustee: Children's museum co-founder, author and former team ophthalmologist for The New York Giants,
Dr. Anne Sumers, MD. Library Trustees join Roosevelt family members, historians, and Franklin and Eleanor fans in support of the FDR Library's efforts to preserve and promote the legacy of the Roosevelts.
Roosevelt Library Director Paul Sparrow said, "President Roosevelt created the Trustees to ensure that this first Presidential Library would have both financial and popular support. We are proud and honored to welcome Dr. Sumers and look forward to working with her for many years."
Anne Sumers, MD, is an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at New York University. She has been in private practice in ophthalmology in Ridgewood, N.J., for 28 years, and has been the team ophthalmologist for the New York Giants for 26 years.
From 1992-2014, Dr. Sumers was the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the New Jersey Children's Museum in Paramus, New Jersey with over 100,000 visitors a year. She is the author of
The Official M.D. Handbook.
Dr. Sumers is a supporter of the Friends of Rockefeller Preserve, Citizens Climate Change Lobby, Scenic Hudson, Riverkeeper, Clearwater, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Orangutan Rescue in Borneo, and Physicians for a National Health Plan. She is the mother of two adult sons and lives with her husband in Montrose, New York.
