Highline Community College 2017 Mentor Night 
Tuesday April 18, 2017 @ 6 to 8pm

The Puget Sound Engineering Council (PSEC) is looking for more volunteers/mentors for Highline College's Mentor Night on Tuesday, April 18th from every engineering discipline. Only three mentors are registered so far! 
 
 
This mentor night is always a lot of fun and it provides the college students the chance to have their career questions answered.

ASCE Seattle Geotechnical Group Short Course and Spring Seminar
Thursday and Friday April 21 & 22, 2017 

The ASCE Seattle Section Geotechnical Group/Geo Institute Seattle Chapter will be hosting a two-day short course and seminar on Ground Improvement in Geotechnical Engineering on April 21 and 22, 2017 in Seattle.

Northgate Link - Technical Tour
Monday April 24, 2017 @ 8am to 12pm

The YMF will be taking a technical tour of the Northgate Link Tunnel. The tour will allow us to see the current construction of the MSE wall and multiple concrete castings for the tunnel located in the Northgate portal, as well as the last cross passage being completed with the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) in the University District.
 
The tour is full! An e-mail regarding tour details will be sent before April 20th to those attending.

Looking for Volunteers to Judge UW Student Presentations

We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to help judge student presentations at the University of Washington.

April Community Service Event
Saturday, April 29th @ 8 am  to 4 pm
Rebuilding Together
Columbia City, Seattle

For April's community service event, we are teaming up with the Seattle Section!

Rebuilding Together serves low-income homeowners who are elderly, living with disability, families with children, or veterans in need.  On April 29th, 2017, ASCE member volunteers will take part in Rebuilding Together Seattle's Spring Rebuilding Day. On this day, we will work together to improve the safety and health of a home in need in the Columbia City area. Please consider joining us!  



Volunteers will be provided with doughnuts and coffee, lunch and water. Also, volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, sturdy boots, and any other gear to work in rain or shine.

The Lake Stevens HS Civil Engineering Club can always use volunteer engineers to be guest speakers or to help lead one of the ASCE-provided hands-on activities.

Emerging Leaders Alliance (ELA) - Accepting Applications until July 1st
November 5th - 8th, 2017
Westin Tysons Corner in Falls Church, Virginia

 
The ELA hosts an annual interdisciplinary leadership conference, providing training in topics such as social styles, leading innovation, global and virtual team leadership, and more. The Conference is an exciting opportunity to participate in hands-on leadership training with members of leading engineering, research, and scientific organizations.  

Each year ASCE selects members to attend the Emerging Leaders Alliance conference as representatives of ASCE. Desired applicant is someone who earned a BS in an Engineering field between 3-12 years ago and is an Associate or Member of ASCE. Selected applicants receive a complimentary conference registration, but are responsible for travel expenses and lodging.
