Modern Jewish Thought
Join Rabbi Langowitz in exploring how contemporary Jewish thinkers have sought to make Jewish ethics, customs, and spirituality relevant for our lives today. In this course we will explore the great Jewish minds of the last century and consider how their ideas can help us answer the big questions in our own lives, like: “How do we know which Jewish traditions still have relevance?” “Who or what is G-d, and how does spirituality guides our actions? and What are our responsibilities as Jews in the modern era?” Judaism has grown and been shaped by many different historical and cultural backgrounds; learn how Judaism can interact with our lives today.

Tuesdays, February 12, 19, 26, and March 5, 7:00-8:30pm

Free for Members of Temple Solel $18 nonmembers per session

Community Wide Violins of Hope Program on the Horizon for Phoenix and Temple Solel

A remarkable story of violins played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust, the Violins of Hope, will be on display in Phoenix From Feb. 3 to March 26. Across the Valley there will be concerts, lectures, and exhibits.

Stanley Mirvis: Jews of the Caribbean: Origins and Legacies
         Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 10:30am
ASU Assistant Professor of History, Jewish Studies

Temple Solel is pleased to host Stanley Mirvis, whose topic is The Jews of the Caribbean: Origins and Legacies. His presentation will invite questions from the audience.

How did Jews get to the Caribbean? What did they do when they got there? How did living in the Caribbean affect the practice of Judaism? Are there still Jews in the Caribbean? And, what is their impact on Jewish history as a whole? This talk will answer these questions and more. It will rescue Caribbean Jews from the margins of history to suggest some of the ways their story and their continued legacy help to enrich our understanding of Diasporic Jewishness and Judaism more generally.

This provocative and interesting program is open the entire community and all are welcome to attend. CLICK HERE TO RSVP FOR THIS EVENT.
