Bill Lowe selected to fill vacant School Board seat
Oath of office planned for Nov. 8 special meeting
Bill Lowe
During a special meeting on Oct. 30, the School Board selected Bill Lowe of Raymore to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Education.

The vote came after the Board interviewed three finalists for the open seat. In addition to Lowe, the Board also interviewed Maria Davies and Joyce Noah.

The oath of office will be administered to Lowe at a special meeting on Nov. 8. Lowe is being appointed to serve until the April 2019 School Board election.

The vacancy was due to the resignation of Kim Bailey, who was appointed to the Missouri State Board of Education. After Bailey's resignation, the District publicized the opening and invited community members to submit letters of interest. During a special meeting on Oct. 9, the Board reviewed letters from seven persons interested in filling the vacant seat. At that meeting, the Board selected three candidates to interview.

At the time of her resignation, Bailey was serving as Board President. Since her departure, Vice President Paul Coffman has been serving as Interim President. Once Lowe is sworn into office, the Board will re-organize to determine who will serve as president and vice president until April.
