Join Fort Greene residents and small business owners for a Discovery Evening of Entrepreneurship. FGA will host a mini-panel featuring local entrepreneurs at varying stages of their ventures.
Guests will then be invited to participate in breakout sessions
facilitated by the
Fort Greene Soloists
on relevant topics including: (1)
The Business of Being in Business,

Parenting as an Entrepreneur,
(3)
Motivation & Loneliness,
(4)
Networking for Entrepreneurs,

The Big Leap: Transitional Pivot, and

Working Full Time with a Side Hustle.
Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur looking to land your first seed round, an artist trying to earn a living from your craft, a corporate full-timer hoping to break out on your own, or a retiree pursuing your second act as a sole proprietor, this event promises to offer something for everyone
You don't need to be a small business owner or entrepreneur to attend or participate. All are welcome to come share their ideas and experience.

After a successful career as a corporate lawyer, Amy Bennett decided in 2004 to open her own wine store in Fort Greene. As the business grew, she parlayed that success into a small business mini-empire on Fulton Street where she became a fixture of the community.
Amy opened Greene Grape Provisions in 2008, followed by Greene Grape Annex Bar & Cafe in 2014, and Greene Grape Scoops & Sweets
ice cream shop
in 2015.
Greene Grape now employs over 70 people and has received numerous awards, including the
2009 Small Business of the Year Award
from Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Their mission is to provide goods and services made with integrity, skill, and pride.

ChiSum Ngai grew up serving traditional condensed-milk–splashed coffee at her
parents' cafe in Malaysia before studying at Portland's American Barista and Coffee School (aka Bellissimo). Chi-Sum opened Coffee Project NY with her partner Kaleena Teo in the East Village in 2015.
Coffee Project NY opened their Brooklyn outpost on Rockwell place in September 2018.

Ursula Hegewisch is a Chicago native and a long-time Fort Greene resident. She co-owned the German-inspired restaurant Berlyn (now closed) that she ran with her German husband Jonas Hegewisch. Located across L
afayette Ave. from Brooklyn Academy of Music, Berlyn opened in
November 2010
and had a very successful 7-year run until
June 2017
.
Ursula is on to her next venture as a partner in
Lindner's Cider
, a new beverage start-up that she and her team are working on launching in the Catskills.
