Members of Grace,
The Lord has blessed us with another week of life and opportunity. There are many events and activities happening at our church in the upcoming weeks. I wanted to update you on how we are progressing.
First,
I want to express my deepest thanks and gratitude for everyone's participation in Fall Fest 2018
. We had a great opportunity to meet members of our community. We had hundreds of people in attendance. We prepared 320 hot dogs and ran out by 7:05. We had tons of candy but still made an additional trip for a little more. We had to just stop the bounce houses as the crowd continued to come. I believe we could have been there hours longer. Our gym was full and a line extended to the playground doors from 5:15 until well after 7. It was a beautiful sight! I look forward to Fall Fest 2019.
Second, our shoe drive is progressing as planned. We will go to the Nike outlet in Little Rock and purchase all of the shoes today (Nov 2). We will bring them back and place them on our altar for the next two weeks so we may pray over them. I ask all small groups and Sunday school classes to take some time and pray for the persons who will receive shoes. We will give the shoes to the children from Conway here at Grace on November 11th from 1-3. If you would like to assist in the giving of shoes during that time please feel free to contact me. We will take the shoes to the children at Bigelow November 13 from 9 - 11. Those who wish to travel to Bigelow should be at the church by 8.
Third, we will have a town hall meeting on November 4, 2018 at 3 p.m. I will share an update as to where we are concerning updates to our endowment. I will have copies of the current endowment, a proposed amendment to the endowment, and proposed resolution to use a portion of the principal of the endowment for debt reduction. I will also address any questions or concerns anyone may have about any other issue concerning the church.
Fourth, we will have a special called charge conference on Sunday, November 11, 2018 immediately after the 11 a.m. service. Our DS, Dr. Blake Bradford will be here to preside. We will address two issues in this conference. We will vote to accept the amendments to the Endowment. The amendments just deal with updated language. One example is our wording calls for the trustee committee. We no longer have a trustee committee. The last item will be whether or not to use the principal of the endowment to pay off church debt which includes paying off our church note.
I encourage every member to come and be present. Every professing member in good standing is eligible to vote.
Lastly, we will have a Missions Fair in the gym on November 11 from 8:30 - 12. I have sent information about the Fair to every group leader in our church. If I have missed someone please feel free to contact me and I will make sure you have the information. The mission fair will be a great way to share about the ministries of the church and help everyone get plugged into and support our ministries at Grace.
