Upcoming Events

These November events may be of particular interest to book clubs. Bring your group to meet an author you've read, or discover new books to add to your reading list.

Wednesday, November 2, 7:00 pm, Historic LoDo

In the gloaming of a wild October night, his fall into the past began. As the Michigan autumn transmuted with the first snows of winter, Jonathan Chase awoke to the chime of a bell, distant but clear, in a wide field - and in the midst of the Civil War - in 1864. Local author Christopher Leppek will discuss and sign  Apollonia, his novel of a modern-day bookstore owner who finds an album that draws him into history.
Monday, November 14, 7:00 pm, Historic LoDo

In Lori Tobias'  Wander, a young broadcast reporter finds herself facing the winter alone after her husband accepts a job on the slope. As she pursues the next big breaking news story, she strikes up a friendship with the new guy in town. He offers a glimpse into a life that she could have had, but he is hiding dark secrets of his own. Tobias will discuss and sign this book, which is set in the 1980s in a rural Alaskan community.
Wednesday, November 16, 7:00 pm, Colfax Avenue

Mary McDonough, best known for her role as Erin Walton on The W altons, welcomes readers back to the small town of Oliver's Well, Virginia, in a story of holiday and homecoming, as three siblings gathers for a Christmas the brings unexpected gifts. She will discuss and sign  The House on Honeysuckle Lane, which was described by bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe as "A warm, heartfelt novel about what it means to belong to a family. You won't want to put it down."

Every now and then we encounter a new book that we're so excited about we want to shout it from the rooftops, so we have this special designation to distinguish it from the rest: TC V.I.B. (very impressive book)! That means it's a true stand-out in a season of many excellent and compelling new books.
