It's April in Death Valley
We visited Death Valley a few years back in late February (til mid-April) and were astonished by what is called The Super Bloom!
Vast swaths of desert floor covered in a breathtaking array of flowers including bear poppy, desert chicory, evening primrose, Bigelow Monkeyflower, lilac sunbonnets and weakstem mariposa lilies. And more.
Make a date for next year. Visit Joshua Tree National Park or Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Be sure to check with the National Park Service for updates on bloom likelihoods and weather conditions.

Introducing The Daniels Energy Tunnel
Portland, CT - April 1, 2018
John Daniels of Daniels Energy, Connecticut's premier oil and propane company, today announced the creation and development of a $212 million glass tunnel to be built in the Connecticut River connecting Portland to Middletown.
The radically innovative concept is to use reverse-charged ion particles (similar to the ones used so effectively on Star Trek the Next Generation) to turn automobile batteries into mini-power plants, eliminating the need for gasoline.
The particles' half-life will be 17 hours, allowing them to be recharged each time they go through the tunnel. Vehicles will be charged .13c for each trip with all the funds earmarked for beautification efforts in towns Daniels serves.
"We're not in it for the money," said John. "We want more beauty in our lives, and if spending $212 million allows us to make our towns more beautiful it's worth it."
The tunnel, which will be anchored to the bed of the Connecticut River with big, industrial-strength plastic caps similar to those found on the bottles of Tylenol, will feature a variety of retail outlets including: Blockbuster Video, Toys R Us, G. Fox, Tower Records, Ames, Caldors and Sage Allen along with a branch of the 5 & 10 and two soda shops are expected to open.
The project was the brainchild of John Daniels, the 4
th generation to lead the 92-year old company. John's dad, David and his uncle Bob are trying to get John some professional help.
