Seattle University Engineering Mentor Night
Wednesday, November 29th

Seattle University (SU) is hosting an engineering mentor night for their students on Wednesday, November 29th from 6 to 8 pm.

The event will start with a panel discussion of invited SU alumni. Following the panel discussion, the students will rotate among tables with the mentors for discussions. To facilitate the discussions, mentors are asked to bring a sample of work (reports, photos, drawings, etc.).

Volunteering at PNA's Annual Winter Fest

Volunteer at PNA's 37th Annual Winter Festival

The Phinney Neighborhood Association's 37th Annual Winter Festival is just around the corner (December 2-3, 2017) and they need volunteers to help make the holiday event run smoothly !

Our group will be helping out with clean up on Sunday 12/3 from  6pm - 9pm. Come early to enjoy the festivities! Volunteers are free to do additional work shifts on other days if they'd like.

Winter Co-Ed Volleyball!!

Volleyball anyone? ASCE YMF is looking to start a team for Winter Season. If you're interested, please fill out the short survey below: 

All games are played on Sunday afternoons and all skill levels are welcome! We will contact respondents in December to let them know if we are putting a team together.

This year's YMF Holiday Party will be held at Flatstick Pub, in Kirkland, WA! Eat some good food, chat with some other engineers and enjoy a round or two of mini golf (truly the best kind of golf).

November - (More) UW Presenters Wanted

Hi Everyone!
 
The University of Washington ASCE Student Chapter is looking for luncheon speakers. Presentations can range from projects you are working on to providing professional development advice to the students. Presentations will take place on UW's campus.
 
A big thank you to those who have taken time out of their busy day to come and talk with the students over the last few weeks. They greatly appreciate it!
 
If you or your company have other opportunities available to the students such as technical tours or office visits, please let me know.

Seeking Popsicle Stick Bridge Committee Members
Preparation for the Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition is underway and we need your help! We are currently looking for volunteers to help plan and organize this unique and anticipated event. (We will be seeking volunteer help for the day-of event event at a later date). 

Positions we still need help with:

High School Outreach: help contacting and/or visiting high schools, need multiple people

Media Coordinator: Hype the event and get word out

There are many other small tasks that could always use more assistance.  So, if you would like to help in any way please don't hesitate to reach out!

Washington Report Card Update!
ASCE Seattle Section is looking for volunteers to act as leads for a few fields (Aviation, Drinking Water, Energy, Hazardous Waste, Transit). The report card is a way for Civil Engineers to better communicate with the general public about the current condition and performance of the country's infrastructure. In 2013,   Washington state's report card  was graded with a C! In 2017, the country's overall grade was event lower, at D+!
